Unlicensed Electrician - 1st shift

Quanex is looking for an Unlicensed Electrician to join our team located in Owatonna, Minnesota. In this role you are responsible for performing electrical maintenance and repair of company equipment. You will also perform or assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and plumbing systems. What You Bring: • Vo-tech electrical training program, mechatronics, robotics, construction electrician or minimum two years industrial electrical experience. • Must possess own tools. • Ability to problem solve and make decisions. • Must have skills in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, schematic drawings, and ability to read blueprints. Starting rate of pay for this position is $25.25/hour, depending on education and experience. Electrical Engineer

Description This role focuses on creating, evaluating, and maintaining electronic systems and components used in metering and smart grid technologies. Ideal candidates will possess solid expertise in both analog and digital circuit design, PCB layout, and diagnostic techniques. You’ll have the chance to contribute to cutting-edge energy solutions within a collaborative engineering team. • Apply strong knowledge of electrical principles and design concepts. • Design, develop, and troubleshoot analog, digital, and RF circuitry. • Utilize laboratory instruments for circuit development and validation. • Confirm compliance with design requirements through analysis, simulation, and hands-on testing; document findings and compare results to theoretical expectations. • Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, test procedures, reports, and project records. • Interpret data and provide actionable recommendations. • Offer technical assistance to manufacturing, service teams, and other internal groups. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as embedded software, PCB layout, and mechanical engineering. • Participate actively in design verification and validation processes. • Lead and contribute to design review sessions. • Engage in mentorship opportunities with senior engineers while supporting team growth. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline. • Two or more years of experience in circuit design or a comparable engineering role. • Strong knowledge of electrical circuit fundamentals and theory. • Familiarity with RF principles and signal propagation. • Ability to design circuits using a wide range of electronic components and devices. • Hands-on experience with RF electronics and circuit development. • Proficiency in PCB design and layout, along with experience creating firmware and performing related engineering tasks. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Skilled in using test and measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, voltmeters, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators for design and validation. • Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal. • Strong capability in diagnosing and resolving hardware issues. Preferred Skills & Experience • Background in microcontroller-based systems and embedded software or firmware development. • Experience with schematic capture tools and PCB layout applications. • Familiarity with programming languages such as C++, C#, LabVIEW, and MATLAB.
