Job Overview The Electrical Lead / Master Electrician reports under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Manager. Ensures maintenance and electrical repair work is done safely, effectively, and in a timely manner. Assists team members with technical issues or advanced problems with given assignments. Inspects work performed by team members. The Electrical Lead / Master Electrician will work directly with the Tool Crib to maintain proper inventory levels and help with the load leveling of PM's as they pertain to the Electrical Staff workload. This individual will develop the maintenance capability of the Electrical team by serving as a technical coach and resource, administrator and gate keeper of electrical documentation; to include ensuring technician changes are documented, filed, and new equipment electrical drawings and programs are accurate and available. Ensure plant electrical standards are established and maintained. Work with the SAP Coordinator to continuously improve PM work instructions, task lists, and checklists. The Electrical Lead / Master Electrician will maintain the staffing schedule and orders parts as necessary to support maintenance activities, and work with the Electrical Planner to ensure that all work is completed on time. Duties/Responsibilities: • Attends daily DPM meetings and weekly review meetings. • Directs daily huddle meetings with staff. • Review and follow up on Daily Shift Reports from each shift. • Supports / Leads deployment, adherence, and continuous improvement of the KHMS Management system for the Maintenance, Reliability and Engineering Pillar on the plant floor. • Prioritize Maintenance activities with the weekly schedule in conjunction with the Planner. • Inspect facilities and equipment periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance. • Prepare weekly maintenance schedules and allocate work. • Oversee onboarding and training electrical technicians, including identifying current employees with appropriate skill sets • Supervisor and guide contract tradesmen during installations, repairs, or maintenance. • Contribute to the development of the maintenance budget. • Assists with departmental budget estimates and costs of specific repair projects. • Monitor inventory of materials and equipment. • Participate in coordination of projects (e.g., overhauls). • Ensure adherence to quality standards, health, and safety regulations. • Ensures maintenance and repair work is completed correctly and in a timely manner. • Perform electrical systems design in efforts to minimize outsourcing costs. • Keep current on new technologies, which will continue to have a positive effect on operations. • Act as a resource to the technicians to troubleshoot and maintain electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic systems and devices used in the manufacturing process. • Work closely with the technicians to document changes to the control circuitry, power wiring and control programs. • Design control circuits, lay cuts, assemblies and hard wire control cabinets. • Acts as a resource to Engineering for the installation of electrical systems. • Serve as a backup in the event of an absence of the Electrical Planner. • Become a member of the Emergency Response Team (ERT). • Files Electrical Inspection requests, communications with inspectors, schedules inspections and signs off on electrical department testing applications. • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager. • Reduce number of breakdowns due to improper maintenance overhaul / restoration procedures. • Improve downtime due to scheduled maintenance being optimized, reduced, and at a target to deliver line goals in support of the compelling business need (CBN). • Update standards and procedures; maintenance costs (parts and labor) reduced and in line with budget or on the glide path. • Reduce average w/o aging. Physical Requirements: • Frequent standing & walking required. • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds. • Required to wear the following PPE (Personal Protective Equipment): (bump cap/hard hat, safety glasses, slip resistant shoes, ear plugs). Other requirements: • Must have a Master Electrician's license with the State of Minnesota and demonstrate proficiency in electrical systems, functions and tasks. • Act as a liaison with the State of Minnesota Electrical Inspectors • Shall have proven and demonstrated history of responsible and safe electrical work and possess a strong knowledge of NEC safety standards and other associated standards and codes. • Strong knowledge of the plant's electrical power distribution, plc's and controls, and control networks is a must. • Operate Forklift, Scissor Lift, and JLG. • Certified in LOTO. • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to plan maintenance schedules. • Ability to communicate effectively with electrical staff using both verbal and written means. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. • Proficiency's with using CMMS system - Preferably SAP PM. • Must have the ability to work in a team environment. Education and Experience: • High School Diploma/GED required • At least five years of electrical experience in a Manufacturing plant required. Responsibilities SUMMARY: The E & I Technician (Electrical & Instrumentations Tech) provides both Electrical Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant, executing with excellence and assisting critical electrical/instrumentation asset health improvement efforts. The E & I Tech will ensure results while partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team, equipment suppliers, and all other plant support teams members for success. The E & I Tech focus responsibilities are assistance, development, and execution of electrical/instrumentation PM, PDM, RCM, Precision CM, and Operator Care Programs. Other duties will include electrical/instrumentation equipment installation, troubleshooting adjustments, startups, and process improvement projects. The E & I Tech will carry and keep current any regulatory required licensure (i.e., Nice to have Maintenance Electrician). This position is responsible for complying with Safety work rules and for reinforcing Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, to reduce product and process variability. This role must be available to work scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays, as necessary. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Participate with electrical/instrumentation maintenance team members and tasks to ensure personal safety, quality, delivery, and cost, are continuously being improved to achieve company objectives. Be an active member who contributes to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture. • Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques ensuring procedural compliance and that job tolerances are met • Identify, develop, and implement critical electrical/instrumentation maintenance and performance improvement projects • Work with Corporate Reliability Team to develop, implement, and review real time condition assessment data for all critical electrical/instrumentation equipment • Actively participate in critical electrical/instrumentation equipment maintenance training for maintenance personnel • Actively participate in following reliability procedures for critical electrical/instrumentation spares and parts • Actively participate in following quality commissioning procedures for critical rebuilt or new electrical/instrumentation equipment • Work with vendors in addressing critical electrical/instrumentation issues identified through root cause and condition-based maintenance programs • Actively participate and assist craftsman during critical electrical/instrumentation maintenance assignments • Actively participate in electrical/instrumentation troubleshooting tasks while assisting other plant personnel in a teaching environment • Utilize MFI approved CMMS to manage, document, and support electrical/instrumentation reliability reporting and decision making. This will be accomplished through the guidance of MFI ARM standards. • Keep accurate and up-to-date records (i.e., SAP data, critical equipment, regulatory documentation etc..). • Provides input for root cause analysis (RCA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance to create an environment of continuous asset reliability improvement. • Actively holds and sustains regulatory required licensure related to electrical/instrumentation (i.e., Maintenance Electrician) and performs required duties to statute expectations • Understands NEC code to a journeyman level and demonstrates accordingly • Promote, and foster Michael Foods culture, values, and principles. • Act as a role model by demonstrating safe work behaviors. Reports conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality. • Always ensure required regulatory compliance. • Perform other duties as assigned. #FirstinFood Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent • Associate's degree, two-year technical certificate, or relevant combination of experience which demonstrates electrical/instrumentation technical and leadership aptitude preferred • 3 to 5 years of experience as a maintenance electrician with an emphasis on industry or manufacturing preferred • Trained and competent in MFI MEL1 skills preferred • Electrical license or electrical/instrumentation certification required per regional or national regulations • Trained in NEC code to a journeyman level preferred • Journeyman understanding of mechanical and/or electrical schematics and blueprints including equipment specific electronics diagrams • Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred • Prior experience in SAP preferred • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Excellent administrative and follow-up skills to achieve successful maintenance and repair programs. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee often is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; taste and smell.
