Job Overview The Electronic Technician must be able to install, troubleshoot, repair, modify, calibrate, make adjustments to and be responsible for, electrical, electronic, and pneumatic process control systems and devices used in production, office, and utility areas. This individual must also interact and influence decisions made concerning the types of equipment implemented, and the methods of application with venders, supervisory and maintenance personnel, as well as other employees. This person is responsible for the safe and proper operation of fork trucks, man-lifts, hand tools, hydraulic and electrical powered portable and stationary tools of all types. Responsibilities & Duties • Know, apply and can evaluate electrical theory and operating principles of major and minor electrical components such as, but not limited to, substation switch gear, low and high voltage circuit breakers, fault indicators, transformers, motors, motor starters, relays, switches, conduit and conduit fittings. • Set up, operate, and use hand tools, air and electrical powered portable hand tools, machine tools, and a wide variety of electrical, electronic, mechanical and pneumatic precision testing and measuring devices. • Must work in a responsible manner, aware of accountability and safety of equipment, plant personnel, and process control systems. • Work includes, but is not limited to, the troubleshooting, testing, repair, replacement, adjustment, calibration, and cleaning of system components and devices. • Must design, modify and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller circuitry using lap-top and personal computers to read and write electrical/electronic ladder logic and other electrical/electronic programs. Must accept the training necessary to maintain and upgrade his/her technical abilities. • Read and work to the indicated accuracy, specifications and tolerances as detailed on engineering drawings, blueprints, and equipment manuals. • Set up, operate and read precision testing and measuring instruments to the instruments’ manufacturer's specifications and accuracy. Such devices consist of but are not limited to: ammeters, voltmeters, ohmmeters, gages, recorders, and capacitor analyzers. • Work from both written and verbal instructions. • Install, troubleshoot, repair, modify, calibrate and make repairs or adjustments based on that diagnosis using repair parts, by correcting existing parts or by innovation to select substitute parts. • Do periodic PM's to all system controls, establish and create additional PM’s as determined. • Must own and maintain the minimum required quality and quantity of personal hand tools for use on the job as instructed by your supervisor. • Employee must work under all plant safety guidelines such as; Lock out tag out, Arc Flash, etc. • Follows plant G.M.P’s. • Installs all electrical/electronic equipment in accordance with the National Electrical Code, Minnesota Electrical Laws and Rules, and local ordinances. Responsibilities 2-2-3 Schedule, Days SUMMARY: The Maintenance Electrician Subject Matter Expert (MESME) provides both Maintenance and Reliability services within the plant, championing executional excellence and critical electrical/instrumentation/automation asset health improvement efforts. The MESME will ensure results while partnering with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance team personnel, plant operational team, equipment suppliers, and all other plant support teams members for success. This position will work closely with the engineering and maintenance departments to ensure that a critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment/component list is created, maintained, tracked, and communicated to entire plant organization. The MESME will partner with the maintenance workflow process team and will ensure that work orders for critical electrical/instrumentation/automation plant assets are in the CMMS backlog and are being planned and scheduled effectively. The MESME will work with technicians to ensure that critical electrical/instrumentation/automation scheduled work orders are properly executed, followed through, documented and value of the job is captured and reported. The MESME will report weekly and monthly to plant leadership teams on progress made on critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment care, and upcoming opportunities to improve. They will promote, execute, mentor, and coach excellence in electrical/instrumentation/automation preventive and corrective maintenance practices. The MESME will become a resource to the plant who constantly focuses on improving the operating condition of critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment and improving the skill sets and performance of the maintenance team.
