Maintenance Electrician A

GENERAL SUMMARY: Perform installation, repair, troubleshooting, and advanced maintenance work on electronic control systems, complex machine tools, heavy fabrication equipment, and more in a high voltage heavy manufacturing environment. Examples include lighting install and repair, machine wiring, machine repair, new equipment install, welding equipment repair, troubleshooting laser cutting machines, material handling systems, robotic paint systems, industrial ovens, HVAC, etc. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform Maintenance Electrician activities as required by supervision. • Planning may involve determination of method and sequence of operation, selection of materials to be used, establishment of work procedures and issuance of instruction to Maintenance Electrician “B” or helpers. • Connects and disconnects electric powered machines; repairs motors and generators; replaces fuses and sets circuit breakers on high and low tension circuits. • Work with outside contractors on planning, installation, and repair of equipment as needed. • Required to requisition materials as needed. • Supply own tools as directed by supervision. • Electronically document maintenance activities completed. • Report labor and job data accurately. • Maintain safety, quality, and efficiency. • Maintain clean and neat work area. • Perform other duties within the department or plant as directed by supervision. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Valid certification of state electrical exam or ability to obtain. Valid driver's license required when using company truck. WORK EXPERIENCE: Prior experience in a manufacturing environment is beneficial. Prior electrical experience is required. SKILLS: Must be able to physically perform essential functions of the job. Possess good mechanical aptitude and ability to work with a wide variety of tools and machinery. Ability to quickly troubleshoot electrical problems on a wide variety of electrical equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to physically perform essential functions of the job. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs., and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Typically requires standing and walking on a regular basis, and sitting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, crawling, reaching and handling occasionally. Specific vision requirements include depth perception, color vision and peripheral vision. WORKING CONDITIONS: Occasionally exposed to noise, odors, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, drafts, vibration, electricity and heights. Hearing protection, safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes with metatarsal protection are required. May require the handling of hazardous waste.
