Journeyman Electrician - (Quad Cities)

The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components in commercial and industrial settings. Job Summary: The Journeyman Electrician will interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine efficient methods for electrical installations according to NEC and local codes. This role involves working both independently, and collaboratively with project supervisors, engineers, often other apprentices and other trades to complete projects on time and within budget. Duties and Responsibilities: Installation • Analyzes blueprints, schematics, and drawings of electrical systems to determine methods to install wire and conduit according to NEC and local codes • Install and repair wiring, circuit breakers, lighting systems, and other electrical components in commercial and industrial settings • Bend, assemble and install conduit and fixtures (e.g., lighting, alarms, signage, etc.) to provide enhanced and/or upgraded electrical capabilities • Mount various types of equipment, such as panel boards, transformers, and switchgear • Installs, and prepare tray system to secure cables • Completes layout and installs underground conduit and rigid conduit • Terminates panels per drawings in an orderly and professional manner Maintenance • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to ensure they function correctly and safely Troubleshooting • Diagnose and repair electrical issues using testing devices like voltmeters and ammeters to locate problems and find solutions System Inspection • Inspect electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers to ensure they meet code and safety standards • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues such as faulty wiring, malfunctioning circuits, and equipment failure Safety • Conducts safety meetings and encourages others to work safely • Ensures site safety compliance through safe work practices in accordance with OSHA and NEC guidelines • Assumes responsibility for understanding and complying with Company attendance policy • Responds to emergency during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns. Other Duties • Provide training to electrical apprenticeship work and oversee apprentice projects to ensure electrical work compliance • Completes projects/work orders within budget and estimated hours of labor while working with project manager • Assists with project job material - including ordering, receiving material on-site (checking for accuracy and condition of material), processes paperwork promptly, and ensure timely return and check-in of unused materials • Completes jobsite housekeeping (including scrap wire) • Provides continuous feedback/communication to leadership and team members involved in each project • Adheres to the highest standards of ethical business conduct and compliance by acting lawfully, ethically, honestly, and professionally in compliance with Company policy and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience – High School Diploma or GED required; 8,000 or more OJT hours, has completed all classroom requirements of an approved apprenticeship program. Minimum 4 years of electrical experience. • Licenses/Certifications - Must have valid drivers’ license; certification to operate all levels of lifts, OSHA 10 • Training –Strong knowledge of Code Book • Technology/Equipment - Working knowledge and possession of required tools (industry-wide and Shaw required tool list). Apprentice Electrician - Quad Cities

JOB SUMMARY: Under supervision of an electrician, the apprentice electrician performs electrical work involved in construction, maintenance, and/or repair of commercial, industrial, or residential electrical construction projects. In addition to assigned tasks, the apprentice participates in the Electrical Apprenticeship Program (including classroom training), and demonstrates continuous progress toward fulfilling all Shaw Electric, Inc., and the Department of Labor Apprenticeship Program requirements. All apprentices must demonstrate the following critical components: • Punctuality be on time, all the time, at the designated work site. • Team work and a positive attitude • An understanding that an apprentice's job is to help the journeyman electrician work faster • A willingness to follow Instructions, learn, and do the job right the first time • The ability to plan ahead - prepare tools/materials for the journeyman ahead of time; this improves job efficiency and makes a great impression. • ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT: • Completes of 10-hour OSHA Safety Course, CPR & First Aid Training. • Demonstrates knowledge of Company Safety Practices, Handbook, and Procedures. • Performs all work in a safe manner, follows all safety procedures, attends safety meetings and encourages others to work safely. Attends required safety training • Completes continuing education toward license/certification in electrical trade • Completes hand trenching and excavation for running underground electrical conduit • Learns to bend conduit up to 1" conduit with hand bender with 90 degree, offsets, kicks and saddles • Able to install conduit and pull wire on a daily basis in accordance with minimum NEC recognized standards and within production rate of assigned projects. • Able to properly cut, thread, and assemble IMC, rigid, & PVC coated conduit • Able to read voltage tester (wigge) • Demonstrates basic knowledge of electrical theory • Demonstrates basic knowledge and understanding of electrical fasteners, anchors, raceways, boxes and fittings. • Demonstrates basic knowledge of blue print reading, spec books, and shop drawings. • Demonstrates knowledge of basic industry wire color codes. • Able to pull wire on a daily basis that meets minimum industry standards recognized by NEC code, at the required production rate.
