Lead Electrical Systems Technician

Job no: 494514 Work type: Hourly (Full Time) Location: Marion, IN Categories: Facilities/Grounds/Skilled Trades Job Title: Lead Electrical Systems Technician Reporting Relationship: Director of Mechanical Systems Unit: IWU-Marion Department: Facilities Management-IWU Marion Campus Location: Maintenance Building, Marion, IN Summary of Position: The Lead Electrical Technician position would provide leadership for the Electrical team within Facility Services, Mechanical Systems division. Coordinate and organize daily to monthly work schedules with Director of Mechanical Systems. Ensure the provision of uninterrupted, quality Electrical service and maintenance to the Marion Campus. Provide and exhibit sound stewardship practices as pertaining to budgets within the Mechanical Systems Division. Monitor and maintain inventories of components and other associated supplies as required for Electrical systems operations. Collaborate with other Lead Technicians through weekly leadership meetings with Director of Mechanical Systems. Duties and Responsibilities • Provide shop level leadership and oversight over daily operations within the Electrical Department of the Mechanical Systems division • Develop and implement daily, weekly, and monthly job assignments for two full-time and minimum of two part-time/student employees • Assist Director of Mechanical Systems in the development of a Campus Capital Action Plan specifically related to the Universities Electrical Systems assets by identifying future maintenance items with potential budgetary impact of those items • Daily review and monitoring of Building Electrical system components • In coordination with Director, provide leadership in the procurement of materials, supplies, equipment, and services related to the campus Electrical Systems • Represent IWU as assigned to internal and external committees, boards, and agencies in related functions and assignments • Assist Director of Mechanical Systems with internal project development including scope, code adherence, labor and material estimation, budget establishment and oversight • Receive and carry out special assignments as may be directed by the Director of Mechanical Systems • May be required to work overtime as directed by supervision Qualifications: According to Indiana Wesleyan University employment policy all employees must possess a strong Christian commitment and adhere to the standards outlined in the IWU Community Lifestyle Statement. Low Voltage Electrician

SCOPE OF WORK: Physically install category structured cabling distribution systems per design interpretations or engineered designed drawings.Installation of telecommunication outlets, cables, fire stopping, and supports Install, terminate and certify both multi-mode and single-mode fiberInstalls, identifies and terminates various types of cable and wire in various locations, including coax, data, power cables and grounding systems as well as understanding of industry standard color code.Perform new and retro-fit Commercial Data, Voice, Fiber Optic and Paging cabling installations.A strong working knowledge of TIA and BICSI Standards; including installation, trouble shooting and service.RESPONSIBILITIES: Proficient with the proper use of trade hand and power tools.Experience in reading and interpreting engineered drawings, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
