Overview Performs repairs, maintenance, and installation of electrical equipment and systems. Performs installation, demolition, and reconstruction of areas and systems at project sites. Responsibilities • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment per procedures. Evaluates the effectiveness of procedures, making recommendations for improvements. Completes preventative maintenance documentation, as well as performs work order repairs on electrical equipment with consideration for the impact of on-going operations, and patient and personal safety. Evaluates the nature of reported problems and determines the most cost-effective method for corrective action. Follows up to ensure that the problems have been corrected. Completes all documentation. • Maintains and repairs emergency power generators and associated switchgear. In the case of an extended utility outage, uses established procedures to supply emergency power to non-critical areas. • Assures that all circuits are in conformance with state and national electrical codes by inspecting and performing safety tests on electrical lighting, emergency generators, alarm systems, communication system, medical equipment and HVAC systems. • Installs new wiring and equipment, altering electrical systems or equipment, or on construction and projects. Installs new electrical services to lighting starters and repairs the same along with connections to switchboards, load centers, transformers, and light dimming systems. Designs and maintains interactive automated systems. Installs conduit (EMT, Rigid, and PVC) metal-clad (MC) cable to other wiring methods for in-house projects. • Evaluates and makes recommendations concerning storeroom spare parts and supplies needed to accomplish work orders and projects. • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly work environment in accordance with departmental procedures and DH safe work practices. • Provides training and direction to Electrical Apprentices. Monitors and inspects work to ensure compliance with codes and regulations. Oversees the work of electrical contractors. • Attends and participates in in-service training programs, as required. Keeps up-to-date on changes in electrical codes and electrical formulas. • Provides assistance to other trades during both routine and emergency situations. May be assigned to emergency assistance teams. • Performs installation, maintenance and repairs with substation and capacitator banks. • Participates in on-call rotation support. • Performs other duties as required or assigned. Qualifications • High school graduate. • Knowledge of computer automated systems operation with emphasis on control and electronic circuitry and troubleshooting desired. • Previous blueprint and control schematic reading experience required.
