Electrical Supervisor

Summary The Electrical Supervisor will oversee the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems, instrumentation and controls equipment. The Electrical Supervisor will ensure proper functioning of control systems and related electrical components by supervising a team of technicians while prioritizing safety and compliance with industry standards. This is a full-time exempt position. This position reports to the Maintenance and Reliability Manager and is located in Cambridge, MA. Responsibilities • Supervise a team of electrical and instrumentation technicians, assigning tasks, provide technical guidance, and evaluating performance. • Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules for electrical and instrumentation systems; including preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective maintenance. • Maintain equipment used to control the operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, boilers, compressors, pumps, and other plant equipment and systems. • Diagnose complex electrical and instrumentation problems, identify root causes, and coordinate necessary repairs. • Monitor the performance of control systems and instrumentation to identify potential issues and take corrective action. • Enforce all safety procedures and regulations related to electrical work, conducting safety briefings and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment. • Conduct quality checks on installations and repairs to ensure adherence to industry standards and project requirements. • Able to work extended hours when situations and emergencies arise. Basic Qualifications • Minimum five years’ experience working in an industrial setting: Power Plant, Oil & Gas Refinery, Chemical Processing Plant, Manufacturing Facility required. • Extensive knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems, including control loops, PLC programming, and various measurement devices. • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical and instrumentation issues. • Commitment to safety protocols and practices related to electrical work and Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures. • Thorough understanding of 3 phase and 2 phase electrical systems. Preferred Qualifications • Minimum three years’ experience as a supervisor or lead for a team of technicians performing maintenance and repair in central plant, power generation or other process plants preferred. • Knowledge of plant operations in the energy & utilities industry or heavy manufacturing. Other Qualifications • Technical degree in an electrical/electronic discipline or vocational certificate in electrical/electronic discipline preferred or equivalent experience. • Effective communication with engineers, operations personnel, maintenance personnel and other team members. • Experience with NERC compliance programs and familiar with applicable standards. • Demonstrated experience and knowledge at reading process flow diagrams and control and instrumentation diagrams and interpreting manufacturer's manuals and drawings. • Experience with electrical systems up to 114 KV. • Experience with DC systems. • Experience with Microsoft office • Familiar with Maximo or other CMMS programs. Physical Requirements • Must submit to company provided pre-employment drug screening and physical exam. • Ability to hear and understand audible alarms and detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment. • Must possess a valid driver license in good standing in order to operate a company vehicle. Must have and maintain a driving record meeting the standards of the company. • The job can be physically demanding involving movement of heavy equipment and carrying materials up and down stairs. • May require stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, and carrying; intermittent lifting of less than 50 lbs. Must be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, and high lifts, on an occasional basis • Must be able to work and travel within the Boston and Cambridge area to all Vicinity facilities

Electrical Board of Electricians. Supervises and instructs an Electrician’s Helper and/or Trainee, when assigned. Installs and maintains various types of electrical systems and maintains all electrical systems and equipment owned by the City of Cambridge. Specifically, duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: • Installs, tests, repairs, and maintains electrical circuits, wiring systems, fixtures, appliances, poles, and equipment. • Trouble shoots and repairs faulty electrical wiring, defective electrical equipment, and machinery such as motors, generators, transformers, switches, sockets, etc. • Inspects and tests circuits and fixtures to locate broken wires, loose connections, blown fuses, faulty switches, grounds, shorts, and other defects. • Installs and maintains the municipal fire alarm system, building fire alarm systems and security systems. • Installs and maintains various communications and data network systems. • Maintains the City’s street and park lighting, including installation and maintenance of underground conduits, wiring, bases, poles, and fixtures. • Maintains traffic signals, including emergency repairs and ordinary maintenance. • Installs and maintains fiber cable in underground conduits and on overhead poles. MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS: • HS Diploma or equivalency. • A current and valid Massachusetts Journeyman’s Electrician’s License. • A current and valid Commercial Driver’s License Class B, or the ability to obtain one upon hire. • Valid Massachusetts Hoisting Engineer License 1B or the ability to obtain licensing within six months. • Certification in OSHA 10 Step Safety and Health Training Course, or the ability to obtain certification within six months. • The ability to work at heights in excess of 50 feet from an aerial bucket truck. Desirable Requirements: • Experience with fiber cabling and splicing, traffic signal controller operation, fire alarm, security and traffic signal systems, street light installations. • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT: Inside and outside work, confined space entry, ability to climb poles, ladders, staging and operate and work from a bucket truck or personnel lift. Will be required to drive, walk, bend, squat, reach, stretch; and lift over 50 lbs.
