Journeyman Electrician

The City of Coffeyville has an opening in Electric Distribution for an Electrician. This position performs complex and difficult work including monitoring and evaluating installation of electrical equipment and meters such as: traffic signals, light fixtures, control panels, relays and high voltage breakers; maintaining and repairing such equipment, meters and electrical equipment at all City facilities; responding to service calls concerning electrical problems and investigates associated complaints; communicating effectively orally and in writing; estimating time materials and equipment needed for project completion and have experience with material requisitions. This position operates a bucket truck, winch truck, drill motors and other equipment needed to perform the job successfully. Applicants must: possess a valid Journeyman Electrician Certificate, as well as a valid Driver's License and have completed the twelfth grade; and have relevant work history indicating five years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance and repair of commercial and industrial electrical equipment or electric utility operation. Work environment includes travel from site to site; inclement weather conditions; exposure to high voltage, electrical energy; working at heights on scaffolding and/or on ladders. Position requires ability to stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time; general manual dexterity; moderate to heavy lifting, carrying; bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling; operating motorized equipment and vehicles; ability to distinguish color. Starting wage for this position is $34.20/hour plus excellent benefits package including sick leave, vacation, personal time, medical and dental insurance, KPERS Retirement and more.
