Service Electrician or Helper

We are in immediate need of a Service Electrician or a Helper! We are a small electrical contracting business with a steady supply of repeat customers. Our primary areas of focus are commercial service, pool equipment installation and service, and small remodels. Most of the work falls under the service category and some of the time will be spent traveling to different locations throughout the day. Our service area covers parts of 3 counties, so employees daily travel will vary. We are currently in the process of expanding our focus to include commercial builds, so our service electrician or helper will eventually end up on some longer commercial projects. Electrician's Responsibilities: • Install and repair electrical equipment and fixtures in a safe and timely manner • Install both PVC and EMT in an efficient and esthetically pleasing way • Troubleshoot non-functional electrical systems and equipment • Interact with customers in a respectful way & present them with available solutions • Understand and adhere to quality standards and safety principles • Produce work that will pass inspections, meet customer and employer expectations and leave the customer with a safe and lasting product. • Manage inventory in a productive and responsible way. (Make sure you maintain stock of items consistently used and return excess parts rarely used) Helper's Responsibilities: • Install and repair electrical equipment and fixtures with limited supervision • Install both PVC and EMT with supervision • Install wiring with supervision • Learn and replicate troubleshooting techniques • Interact with customers, employer and supervisors in a respectful way • Understand and adhere to quality standards and safety principles • Help produce work that will pass inspections, meet customer, employer & supervisors' expectations • Ability to comprehend and comply with national electric code and adhere to company safety protocol ​​Electrician's Qualifications: • 5+ years experience in electrical (ideally 3+ years of service work & 2+ years of commercial construction) • Ability to lead a two man team (you + a helper) • Ability to work with other electricians as an equal • Ability to work independently at times • Extensive experience with electrical equipment, hand & power tools and testing equipment • Valid drivers license and a good driving record • Reliable transportation (no bus pass) • Strong communication skills • Must speak English fluently • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills • Strong knowledge of the NEC • Basic knowledge of water proofing principles • Ability to take direction, admit mistakes and learn from them • Ability to maintain a professional appearance ​​Helper's Qualifications: • Previous experience in the electrical field 2+ years • Familiar with electrical schematics, blueprints, and manuals • Competent with electrical equipment and hand tools • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills • Valid drivers license and a good driving record • Reliable transportation (no bus pass) • Strong communication skills • Must speak English fluently • Ability to take direction, admit mistakes and learn from them • Ability to maintain a professional appearance Benefits: • Competitive hourly pay • Vacation time • Health Insurance • Company Vehicle available based on performance • Fuel Card • Annual Bonus Company DescriptionWe pride ourselves on providing the best electrical service in South Florida. Electrical technicians - FL

Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Wear proper work attire/ jeans, cotton T-shirt and work boots. • Provide required tools from tool list. • Calculate Ohms law, pipe fill, wire sizing and basic calculations. • own a current NEC(2020)and be able to navigate. • Bending EMT pipe. 6.Read and understand blue prints. • Preliminary job analyzing, compiling material and labor needed to complete jobs. • Oversee several jobs running concurrently. • Service commercial, residential jobs, complete work orders and collect payments. • Troubleshoot complex electrical systems. • Install electrical gear such as MDP, service equipment, panels ETC, grounding electrode systems in residential and commercial. • Must be motivated, on time and prepared to spend personal time cleaning, maintaining a work van and work site. • Adhere to all quality and safety codes • Troubleshoot motor and control systems Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills • Must speak fluent English. Electrical Assistant

The candidate selected for this position will assists with installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing electric parts, equipment, and motors. In accordance with Article 24 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City of Fort Lauderdale and Teamsters Local Union 769, for posting purposes this open-competitive job posting shall be considered as a simultaneous internal and external posting (it is open to both internal City employees and external applicants).Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. The omission of a function does not preclude management from assigning essential duties not listed herein if such duties relate to the position. • Maintains and repairs electrical equipment for the city • Maintains and repairs streetlights, park field lights, and parking lot lights • Disposes of broken light bulbs according to EPA standards • Maintains inventory or materials required for job; orders materials as needed • Troubleshoots, monitors, and maintains low voltage wastewater pumping station alarm units throughout the city and surrounding service Public Works • Uses electrical and electronic test equipment, such as voltmeters, meggers and ammeters to check the condition of electrical and electronic systems and equipment and to detect causes of electrical failures and malfunctions • Maintains records of work performed • Assist licensed electricians install and pull wire • Performs related work as required • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalency supplemented by a vocational / technical certification in electric work. • A minimum of three (3) years of experience servicing, maintaining and/or repairing electrical systems. • Depending on position, a Driver's License Class B may be required. • If claiming Veteran's Preference, candidates must attach a DD214 Member 4 form, and the City of Fort Lauderdale's veteran's preference claim form(J-204) to the online application.
