The position is based on the Brighton Reservation located at 650 E Harney Pond Rd NE, Okeechobee, FL 34974 and covers Seminole Residences up to a 100 mile radius. There are work vehicles assigned to the department you can use between locations. The staff schedule is full-time Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with an on-call rotation that includes coverage of the northern region of the Reservations that services Okeechobee, Fort Pierce, Tampa, and Lakeland and their surrounding areas. In case of extreme weather, such as hurricanes, the Housing department is considered essential staff so the team may need to change the work schedule to accommodate, including traveling out to other affected Reservations. Position Summary This is skilled work at the journeyman level regarding the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and all Seminole Tribe of Florida’s residential and commercial generator systems. The individual monitors and maintains inventory, orders parts, equipment and fluids. Enters and updates information related to work orders assigned from start to finish in to the asset management database. The incumbent is also responsible for distributing fuel to residents in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining public safety. Qualifications / Requirements High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Prior vocational training or job-related coursework is preferred, or, completion of an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply technical electrical knowledge and skills is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of experience as in the repair and maintenance of generator equipment and/or uninterrupted power supply systems is required. Licensed Electrician is preferred. Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B with a HAZMAT Endorsement or have the ability to obtain the license within nine (9) months of employment. Demonstrate excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
