Overview We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in various electrical systems and be able to work independently or as part of a team. Electrician - Journeyman

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE Graduation from high school and four (4) years of verifiable experience in electrical repair work. Must possess a Journeyman electrician’s license. Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s License and have and maintain an acceptable driving record. Note: Employee will be responsible for maintaining CEU’s (continuing education units) for their Journeyman or Master license if required. EMERGENCY DECLARATION STATUS Code 1: Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared emergency and/or declared emergency. On an incident-by-incident basis, the employee’s Department Head will make the determination as to who will be required to work. GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB Under general supervision, performs limited supervisory and skilled technical work in the maintenance and repair of electrical instruments and equipment. Work involves electrical instruments and control devices, inspecting for and repairing malfunctions, and identifying causes of malfunctions or breakdowns. Employee is also responsible for maintaining records of maintenance work performed, and for determining and recommending alterations to control system specifications to increase efficiency. Reports to the Facilities Division Manager or designee as assigned. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Inspect, equipment for malfunctions maintenance needs and breakage and performs necessary maintenance and/or repairs; diagnoses problems and causes of equipment failures. Diagnoses problems and repairs malfunctioning equipment; maintains electrical systems, performing routine maintenance as scheduled and repairs as necessary; maintains units as necessary. Works on and maintains various electrical systems including CATV, networking, circuit, telephone, 120v-480v systems, lighting replacement, pumps and Energy Management Systems. Prepares and maintains logs and records of maintenance and repair work performed, submitting and/or filing such documents as requested or otherwise appropriate. Researches newly developed electrical specifications for various system, determines feasibility and appropriateness of alterations to existing City systems and makes recommendations to supervisor, as appropriate, makes authorized alterations. May help assign, direct and supervise activities of operational personnel assisting in electrical repair or related work, ensuring adherence to established policies, procedures and standards. May be assigned to shift work. May be required to work weekends and holidays. May be required to respond to after our calls. ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS Performs other related work as required. Dependent/Spouse Life Insurance: The City of Palm Bay provides each employee with dependent/spouse life insurance in the amount of $5,000 per dependent at no cost. Additional coverage is available at the employee's cost. Short Term Disability: Coverage pays 66 2/3% of employee's annual base salary during a short-term disability period not to exceed 26 weeks. Long Term Disability: Coverage pays 66 2/3% of employee's salary at time of disability after a 180 consecutive day waiting period. Defined Contribution Retirement Plan: City contributes a base of 3%. Employees may contribute up to 6% and the City will match the employees contribution. Holidays: 10 holidays,1 birthday holiday and 1 anniversary holiday. Paid Leave: Accrue 96 hours of vacation per year, accrued hours increase after 5 years of service based on years of service. Accrue 96 hours of sick leave per year. Tuition Reimbursement: Upon completion of the initial probationary period, employees are eligible for tuition and book reimbursement for college level courses for Associate's, Bachelor's and Master's Degrees.
