ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Administers the curriculum guides of the District as based on state adopted standards. • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials based on district curriculum guides, standards, and expectations; includes emergency plans in the case of absence and/or illness • Establishes and communicates well-defined objectives for each lesson, including relevant projects and activities • Translates lesson plans into learning experiences that reflect research-based instructional strategies, including inquiries, group discussion, lectures, discovery, etc. and addresses the individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of the students • Communicates and plans with other members of the staff in the delivery of meaningful instruction for shared students who participate in other programs such as special education programs, CTE, ELL, etc. • Assess student performance through practical projects, written exams, quizzes, and observations. Offer regular feedback to students to help them develop both technical skills and professional work habits • Exposes students to career opportunities in carpentry, construction, and related fields. Encourage student participation in internships, apprenticeships, and job-shadowing opportunities with local industry partners. • Prepares students for industry-recognized certifications in carpentry and construction (e.g., NCCER, OSHA certifications) and ensures that the program aligns with these standards. • Provides individualized support to students, offering guidance on career pathways, academic success, and skill development • Attends staff meetings and district in-service programs (see Policy GCMC) • Serves on school and district committees as requested and able • Is responsible for discharging instructional and non-instructional school-related activities in a thorough and timely manner • Maintains a safe, organized, and productive classroom and workshop environment.
