We are seeking a detail-oriented Master Carpenter. This is a professional craftsman level supervisory position designed for entry level carpenters to develop advance team carpentry skills. This role involves manufacturing of trim, moldings, windows, doors, furniture, blue print drawings and other finishing details, and cross training staff in carpentry departments to ensuring quality craftsmanship. As our Master Carpenter, you’ll lead and mentor a team of skilled carpenters, ensuring every product meets our exacting standards and delivery timelines. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Supervision • Oversee day-to-day activities of the finish-carpentry crew (trim, moldings, decorative elements). • Delegate tasks, set clear expectations, and manage workload to hit production targets. • Conduct daily toolbox talks and enforce OSHA safety standards across the shop floor. Project Planning & Quality Control • Review blueprints and work orders; develop workflow plans and material take-offs. • Inspect and approve all cut, assembled, and finished components for accuracy and craftsmanship. • Troubleshoot fitment or finish issues, implementing corrective actions swiftly. Training & Development • Coach and mentor entry-level carpenters: demonstrate advanced techniques, share best practices, and foster continuous improvement. • Crosstrain team members in other carpentry disciplines (framing, window and door assembly, radius, cabinet assembly, mill work, etc.) to build bench strength. Resource & Inventory Management • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure timely availability of lumber, hardware, and consumables. • Maintain tool inventory: perform regular audits, coordinate repairs, and ensure proper storage. Communication & Collaboration • Liaise with Production, HR, and Floor Supervisor to align priorities and resolve bottlenecks. • Provide daily or weekly status updates on production progress, staffing needs, and quality metrics. Continuous Improvement • Identify process inefficiencies; propose and implement workflow enhancements. • Lead periodic skills-development workshops and safety drills. Technical Skills & Experience • Minimum 5 years of finish-carpentry experience in a manufacturing or high-end residential setting. • Proficient with advanced woodworking machinery (table saws, routers, shapers) and hand tools. • Strong blueprint-reading skills; ability to calculate complex angles and compound cuts. • Demonstrated aptitude in finish carpentry: crown molding, custom trim profiles, flush-mount assemblies. • Basic computer skills for updating production dashboards and work orders.
