Lead Maintenance Carpenter

Salary: $42,000.00 Annually Location : Cedar City, UT Job Type: Full-time Staff Job Number: 202400217 Division: Campus Operations Department: Facilities Management Opening Date: 11/04/2025 Closing Date: Continuous FLSA: Non-Exempt Position Summary Responsible for effective maintenance, carpentry, cabinet making, concrete, drywall, carpet installation, and other construction-related activities to help maintain proper function and safety of campus. Supervise student carpenter assistants and others as required. First consideration date: 11/19/2025 Essential Functions • Perform maintenance on University buildings, including drywall repair, carpet removal and installation, concrete repair, roof repair, and general building maintenance. • General and finish carpentry, remodeling of commercial space including wood and metal framing, drywall, cabinet, and countertop installation, demolition, floor and ceiling tile installation and repair. • Execute concrete forming, pouring, finishing, sealing, and repair. • Operate, maintain and repair power tools and equipment pertaining to this position. • Perform work, documentation, and tracking required in work order system. • Other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Minimum Qualifications • High School or GED. • Training or experience in the related field. • Knowledge of State and Federal regulations applicable to the area of responsibility. • Demonstrated leadership qualities, strong human relations abilities. • Working knowledge of computer programs related to the position. • Interaction with: Campus Community, Vendors; Contractors, Community Organizations • Attend training and receive certifications related to the position as assigned by supervisor. • Must have the ability to communicate clearly in English, both written and verbal. • Professional appearance with clothing appropriate to work assignments. • Must have a current Utah Driver's License. Preferred Qualifications • Must have three years of full-time experience in building trades. • Experience in finish carpentry or cabinetry preferred. • Experience with concrete forming, placement and finishing preferred. • Experience in commercial building and renovation preferred. • Able to operate some heavy and light equipment including: trucks, backhoe, and forklift. • Proven outstanding work ethic demonstrated through previous employment or schooling. Experienced Finish Carpenter needed for 2-4 weeks to help complete residential home new builds. Hours are Monday-Friday 7a-5p. Pay is $20/hr.
