This means that you will have Medical Benefits for both you and your family at no cost to you! Position Description: This position constructs and repairs building frameworks as well as structures. Stairways, doorframes, partitions, rafters, cabinetry, siding, and drywall are a few examples of the types of onsite tasks this position is responsible for completing. Carpenters pay great attention to project detail and have a strong understanding of wood and metal properties. Carpenters are also required at various times to do virtually all the carpenter support activities performed by laborers. This is a safety sensitive position Essential Duties: • Responsible for the assembly and removal of the forms that are used for concrete installation. • Use assorted hand tools, including ten-pound sledgehammers, shovels, picks, handsaws, skill saws, and drills. • Build and/or install window-frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames. • Responsible for ensuring that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible. • Reads blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements. • Effectively operate small hand and power tools to assist with a variety of worksite projects. • Responsible for taking measurements and calculating the size and amount of material needed. This includes cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other required materials according to requested measurements. This also includes constructing forms and chutes for pouring concrete as well as erecting scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground. • Loads, unloads, and identifies building materials, machinery, and tools. Distributes site materials to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications. Responsible for ensuring that all materials are properly distributed, and the site is swept and well maintained. • Promotes a safe work environment and communicates jobsite hazards. This includes helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored. Position Qualifications: • High School Diploma or GED. • Valid Driver’s License. • Follow safe work practices in accordance with the Hensel Phelps safety and health program. • Must be able to take initiative and ask questions. • Possess a keen attention to detail and be able to follow instructions. • Workers must provide their own safety footwear. • Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders. • Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills. • Must be reliable and punctual. This includes having reliable transportation and consistent work attendance. Preferred Qualifications: • Experienced in construction layout, blueprint reading and shop drawing reading. • OSHA 10 Certification. • CPR & First Aid Certification. Physical Work Classification & Demands: Heavy Work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. • The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and field activity. • Walking - The person in this position needs to frequently move about the jobsite. • Sometimes operates a computer or tablet and other office machinery, such as a calculator and phone. • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office and field administration. • Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read and understand blueprints, load charts, and take/verify field measurements. • Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights. • Working from heights – the person must be comfortable and able to work from heights for extended amounts of time. • Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch. • Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist. • Reaching – Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction for various lengths of time. • Grasping – Needs to apply pressure to an object with fingers and palm regularly. Carpenter Scaffolding

SUMMARY Transport, erect, disassemble, store, maintain, and inspect scaffolding systems in accordance with industry standards safely and efficiently in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Material handling and other miscellaneous tasks may be assigned. Duties/Responsibilities: • Uses carpentry hand tools such as hammers, levels, squares, screw drivers, adjustable wrenches, hand and power saws, drill motors and pry bars to erect scaffolding for buildings and other structures and installs ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms, and gangways. • Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, using square, measuring tape, and ruler, and marks cutting lines on materials using pencil and scriber. • Ability to fabricate products as needed to facilitate the team’s needs. • Secures scaffolding to permanent structure by tying and setting and bracing anchor bolts if needed. • May brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts for use in building concrete piers, footings, and walls • Assures that scaffolds are installed with a stable base, plumb, and level. Knowledge of requirements set forth in OSHA 1926 451 concerning the erection and disassembly of scaffolds. Load, transport, and rig materials and equipment. Inspect base surface for obstructions and scaffolds for safety. Participate in all safety related processes and programs as requested. • Engage with your work team to ensure we achieve zero injuries! • Understand that no job is so important that your safety and that of your crew will be compromised. • Watch for hazards and report any concerns to your supervisor or safety professional. • If needed, use your pause work authority until the issue is resolved. Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation process as needed. Participate in all pre-job work planning and safety discussions. • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate and/or mitigate hazards. Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back-up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens). Understand, support, and follow lockout tag out procedures. • Must attend site specific training and ensure you follow all procedures as outlined in the training. Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment. Use effective verbal and written communication skills. • Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately. Listen to co-workers’ suggestions, safety concerns, and recommendations giving full attention to what they are saying and take the time to understand the points being made, asking questions, and providing feedback when appropriate. Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job. Provide on-the-job training and/or mentoring to helpers and laborers you are working with. Produce quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications, and industry standards. Read and understand plans and specifications in blueprints, sketches, or plans to prepare project layout. • Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions. With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications and plan, lay-out, diagram, and install structures. • And other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Required Skills/Abilities: • OSHA 30 • OSHA 10 • Scaffolding Certification from a recognized, reputable organization • At least 4 years of experience working as a scaffold builder or in similar craft or a combination of working experience and training. A strong working knowledge of the erection of all types of scaffold structures and a working knowledge of scaffold materials and erection requirements including but not limited to end supports, handrails, mid-rails, toe boards, cross-bracing, and access/egress. Must be at least 18 years of age. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations. • Should have the ability to obtain certification in scaffolding from a recognized, reputable organization. SAMES, Inc. will cover the cost of training and coordinate the process; the candidate must successfully complete the course and obtain the license. Education and Experience: • High school diploma or equivalent minimum. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds. • Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas, see and hear naturally or with correction. • Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties. • Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls according to a set procedure. • Requires repetitive movement. • Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds. • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions. • Typical construction site environment. • Requires working in cramped workspaces and getting into awkward positions. • Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc. • Requires working in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions. • Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. • Work around hazardous equipment. • This position is considered a safety sensitive position in Los Alamos National Laboratory, in nuclear facility.
