Position will devote a substantial portion of time assigning and directly supervising work of at least two (2) full time equivalent employees. Position will conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary actions. Position will interview and recommend selection of applicants and conduct training of personnel How does it get done? Oversee the implementation of the District Bridge Management Program; oversee the District's Bridge Contract Maintenance Program; oversee the District Bridge Inspection Program; coordinate with other State Agency and Local Government Officials to relay structural condition and maintenance needs of their structures; and oversee and maintain the District's Bridge Management System (PONTIS) to report and update the condition of the District's Bridges. Who are the customers? The traveling public. Ideal Candidate Ideal candidate will have experience in. Experience making recommendations concerning the repair needs for a bridge/structure. Coordinating the bridge work required with the appropriate maintenance or construction crew to ensure that the repairs are completed. Attended a Bridge Inspector Training Course. Experience setting up traffic control for bridge repair/maintenance. Experience with the construction or maintenance of bridges and with computing cost estimates for bridge/structural projects. Minimum Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent and eight (8) years of relevant experience, six (6) months of which must be supervisory. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must be certified in NMDOT/ACNM TTCP Concrete Field Testing within one year of hire. Must be able to attend Bridge Inspection 2 week training course and maintain certification. Employment requires successful completion of post offer pre-employment physical exam and is conditional pending results. Business and/or personal reference checks and driver's license verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results. Working Conditions Work is performed in office/field in varying weather conditions including heat, cold, humidity, wind, rain, and snow. May include exposure to: ' Sunlight, dust, pollen, chemicals, rough/rugged terrain, insects and reptiles, noxious plants and infected trash; exposure to ' Moving mechanical parts, high precarious places, toxic fumes/chemicals and/or airborne particles, hazardous chemicals and/or asphalt and petroleum products; ' Highway speed/high volume traffic and loud noises; ' Falls and bruises, considerable physical strain; ' Heavy lifting; sitting/standing, bending, squatting, climbing, reaching, kneeling and crawling for extended periods of time may be required. Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Work may also include being performed in an office setting with exposure to visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and telephone usage to include working with faxes, copiers and printers. May be required to work irregular hours or emergencies on short notice; willingness to accept change or geographical assignments; interaction with the public, local, county schools and city officials by phone and in person.
