Nunn Construction is a Construction Manager/General Contractor specializing in commercial building projects that matter to Colorado communities including Municipal, Educational, Non-Profit/Faith-Based, Healthcare, and Commercial Office projects. Our Headquarters office is in Colorado Springs with additional offices in Pueblo and Durango, Colorado. Carpenter/Carpenter Apprentice Minimum Qualifications • Must have at least 1 year of hands-on, carpentry experience • Must be able to work 40+ hours per week • Ability to use necessary hand and power tools • Must have reliable transportation to job site(s) • Must be able to regularly lift and carry items weighing approximately 50 lbs. or move up to 90 lbs., climb and work ladders, bend, stoop, and work around wood dust and fumes, in inclement weather. • Must pass pre-employment background check & drug screen Job Summary / Objectives A Carpenter/Carpenter Apprentice typically follows blueprints and building plans to meet the needs of clients. Installs structures and fixtures, such as windows and molding. Measure, cut, or shape wood, plastic, and other materials. Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and door frames. An experienced level Carpenter plans, constructs, installs, and maintains a wide variety of complicated woodwork structures and equipment. Selects materials to meet appearance and specified load requirements. Works from blueprints and rough sketches. Occasionally operates various types of woodworking equipment. May direct work of others. Position: Vocational Carpentry Teacher Canon City School District Fremont Re-1 Location: Cañon City Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the 169-day Teacher Salary Schedule and based on education and experience. Purpose of the Job: To lead students in developing technical and employability skills in woodworking and residential carpentry, preparing them for entry-level employment, advanced training, or post-secondary education. The teacher will support students’ intellectual, emotional, and physical growth, in alignment with the District’s mission. The program supports students in achieving industry certifications and developing real-world problem-solving skills through project-based learning. Certification and Experience Requirements • Must meet eligibility requirements for or currently hold a Colorado CTE Authorization in Secondary CTE Architecture and Construction, which may be satisfied by: • A minimum of 24 semester hours of coursework in construction-related content, or • A valid general contractor license as outlined by the Colorado Department of Education or ability to obtain within six months of hire • Four (4) to six (6) years of job-related experience in the construction or carpentry industry, including some supervisory experience • Must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License Qualifications and Skills Knowledge of: • Woodworking and residential carpentry, including framing, finish work, cabinet construction, roofing, drywall, and exterior applications. • Curriculum development and instructional best practices. • CTE frameworks, student assessment strategies, and workplace readiness. • Safe use of shop tools and equipment such as lathes, saws, routers, CNC tools, etc. • Behavior management and student engagement techniques. • Basic first aid and safety training preferred Ability to: • Deliver instruction to a diverse student population with a range of learning styles. • Integrate academic and technical skills to support CTE goals. • Maintain classroom discipline, safety, and equipment maintenance. • Communicate clearly and professionally with students, staff, and the community. • Adapt to new technologies and teaching methods. • Lift up to 100 lbs and engage in physically demanding instructional activities. • Maintain confidentiality and follow all district data protection protocols.
