Assistant Carpenter

Responsibilities include construction projects throughout the organization. Ability to work with other trades as required in completing projects. Expected skills include, but are not limited to, experience in carpentry, light plumbing, drywall, roofing, masonry, concrete, flooring, and painting. SCOPE OF DUTIES: • Gather and maintain accurate records of work orders completed, including time and materials. • Coordinate with Maintenance Mechanics as needed to address emergency services requests. • Assist with maintenance to ensure that all the agency's buildings meet local codes and are in compliance. • Ensure the completion of specific projects as assigned by the Superintendent of Maintenance. • Pick up and deliver necessary materials and supplies as needed or requested by the Superintendent of Maintenance. • Ensure the care and safekeeping of all department tools and equipment, completing inventory as requested by the Superintendent of Maintenance. • Respond to on-call emergency services as needed • Report all unsafe or potentially hazardous conditions immediately to the Foreman or Superintendent of Construction and Maintenance • Keep an accurate record of petty cash and submit monthly all receipts and forms per policy • Interact (verbally and non-verbally with clients, staff, and outside contacts professionally with respect and courtesy with clients, staff, and outside contacts with respect and courtesy. • Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures. • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training sessions, and meetings as required. • Other duties as assigned ESSENTIAL REQUIRED SKILLS: • A working knowledge of other construction trades, including electrical, plumbing, roofing, masonry, painting, excavation, site work, and structural steel. • Project Schedules and maintaining them. • OSHA 10-hour course. If you don’t currently have this certification, you must be willing and able to pass the course requirements. Experience Required • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Previous work experience in various construction trades for a minimum of 5 years is essential. Communication and written skills are essential. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to meet agency standards.
