Production Welder 1 Reports to: Shop Foreman Works closely with Engineering and Production Full-Time Position | Mon-Fri, 7am -4pm (PT) Not a remote position Job Overview We are a fast-growing brand in the aftermarket automotive world and are seeking a motivated Production Welder to support the Production & Fabrication Department here at Synergy. This is a crucial role responsible for preparing and welding fabrication jobs that include heavy duty steering components, suspension components, and other various products that will bear the Synergy brand. This role will regularly cut, bevel, bend, fixture, and weld (MIG/Pulse MIG) a multitude of products. The role may occasionally operate various pieces of equipment including a semi-automatic band-saw, CNC bender, disc sander, vertical mill, etc. Responsibilities · MIG Weld mild steel brackets and plate parts · MIG-Pulse Weld mild steel and 4130 chromoly control arms and steering components · Utilize fixtures, weld positioners, and special tools to assemble or set-up specific parts or jobs · Review work instructions to understand steps to fabricate parts · Operate equipment and tools, such as, but not limited to; disc sander, band saw, cold saw, drill press, etc. · Operate CNC equipment such as, but not limited to; hydraulic tube bender, plasma tube cutter, press brake, etc. · Deburr and inspect welded components prior to powder-coating · Participate in occasional meetings and daily clean-ups · Record time-per-job on “work order” sheet Required Skills and Experience · 1+ years’ experience in manufacturing or assembly operations · 1+ years’ experience welding – structural, hobbyist, etc. – Must be able to pass a functional MIG welding test · Proficient with simple measuring tools – Must be able to read fractions on a tape measure and use a dial caliper · Proficient with hand tools (wrenches, drill, etc.) · Proficient with reading engineering drawings to understand crucial dimensions of parts being fabricated · Able to understand and follow oral or written work instructions · Good communication skills and a strong work ethic · Able to stand and walk throughout the scheduled 8-hour work shift · Able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. on a continuous basis throughout the work day · High attention to detail Preferred Skills and Experience · Weld Certification(s) · Experience with Pulse MIG welding · Experience with rotary weld positioners · Forklift Certification and operation · Proficient with manufacturing equipment and tools such as lathes, mills, press brake, drill press, and any CNC operated equipment Email Resume and Cover Letter, include why you would be the right person to join our team. Responsibilities Fabrication • Perform both field and shop metal fabrication. • Operate machinery used in the production process such as shear, roller, brake, cold cut saw, etc. • Utilize various fabrication, assembly and installation tools including but not limited to forklifts, drill presses, band saws, grinders, cold cut saws, shear, plasma, milling, press brake forming, and laser cutting systems. • Fabricate parts used in repairs using machine shop instrumentation and equipment. • Load appropriate files into CNC machinery and perform CNC operations. • Stainless steel tank and skid fabrication as well as tank repurposing and relocating. • Clean and maintain all shop equipment. Welding • Set up welding machines based on the job at hand or using a Welding Procedure Specification. • MIG and TIG welding of stainless-steel, aluminum, mild steel, stainless pipe and tube welding. • Follow specifications of the blueprints and/or drawings. • Grinding, sanding, polishing, and passivation of the final product as required. • Quality control testing to identify sources of problems through observation, and use precision measuring and testing instruments. Qualifications • 5+ years of professional experience in industrial fabrication/welding (or related role) in a manufacturing environment, specializing in stainless steel. • AWS Certified Welder (CW) preferred, but not required with relevant experience. • Proficient in welding methods and quality control. • Working knowledge of all tools and equipment i.e. overhead cranes, saws, iron workers, shears, brakes, welding equipment, etc. • Reliable, with the ability to effectively prioritize assigned projects based on due date. • Read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific welding. • Exercise a strong level of attention to detail and focus on tasks. • Keep work areas clean and organized, while taking proper care of all equipment and facilities. • Uphold all OSHA and company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices and participation in EHS meetings, investigations, and audits. • Resolve problems early through drawings, details, notes and communication. • A valid CA Drivers License, with a clean driving record. • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to loud machinery, metalworking fluids, and other industrial elements. • Requires lifting heavy materials and standing for long periods. • Must be willing to work 5/8 hour shifts. • Experience with sanitary or process piping (preferred, but not required).
