This will include, but not limited to, tack welding, final welding with orbital or lathe welding equipment, tubing, and various fittings to engineering specifications inside a clean room environment. These tasks will be accomplished using tig welding, orbital welding, and lathe welding machines. This position is expected to always operate in a safe manner and comply with all applicable work instructions. • ** This is a 2nd shift role (3pm - 11:30pm pst). In this role you will • Works from instructions, drawings, and lists of various tube configurations with supervision. • Use SAP to print drawings and parts lists. • Use Ultra High Purity (UHP) process to weld fittings inside a clean room environment. • Weld tubing and components from ½” to ¾“diameter using orbital weld equipment. • Weld tubing to fittings from 1” to 4” diameter using lathe welding equipment. • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. • Follow engineering specifications to produce quality and accurate products in a timely manner. • Performs routine, repetitive operations and processes. • Complete 6S responsibilities (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain, safety). • Maintain a safe and clean work environment and maintain or increase On-Time Shipments. • Ability to work safely and recognize the safety of others. • Provide accuracy and consistency in work performance. • Learn proper measuring techniques, tool use, care, and quality standards. • Work with a team as well as independently when needed. Traits we believe make a strong candidate • High School Diploma or equivalent. • 0-2 years’ experience tig welding of stainless steel. TIG welding experience strongly preferred. • Ability to learn to navigate through operating system to find, drawings and instructions. • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50lbs daily. • Ability be on your feet for extended periods of time. • Focus on attention to detail to drive plant safety and product quality. • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment. • Ability to learn how handle material responsibly. • Dependability and flexibility to work over-time and weekends to support business needs. • Willingness/ability to work 2nd shift (3pm - 11:30pm pst). The anticipated duration of the appointment is from early April to early June. DEFINITION Under the general supervision of the assigned administrator and in collaboration with the division chair/lead faculty, provide technical assistance to the Construction and Welding program faculty for the effective operation of the instructional programs, including equipment maintenance, laboratory upkeep and setup, and student learning support. This position could be assigned to work at any of our educational sites. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS This class is distinguished from other Laboratory Technician classes in that incumbents are required to be knowledgeable and/or acquainted with equipment, materials, and safe practices used in construction and welding labs. Incumbents in this position promote student learning outcomes by ensuring that instructional labs are maintained and furnished with equipment and tools that assist the students. Essential Functions & Qualifications As a substitute until the permanent position is filled, the job duties may be a subset of the below essential functions.
