As a Welder at Ryerson, you will be responsible for applying welding and fabricating processes to metal and ensuring quality and customer standards are met. Roles and Responsibilities • Applies appropriate welding and assembling applications in a fabrication environment and processes metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum • Works according to the layouts, work orders, and blueprints MIG and TIG welding equipment; will need to lay out and mark weld points on parts or sub-assemblies of some material; will also need to position pieces to be welded into jigs and fixtures using measuring instruments and hand tools • Inspects completed work for conformance to specifications • Observes all standard safety practices and maintains and completes all required records • Working in a safe manner as outlined during training and using prescribed safety equipment including PPE • All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice Requirements • Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills • Minimum 3 years experience in a steel or industrial manufacturing setting preferred • Extensive MIG welding experience, TIG welding experience preferred • Forklift and overhead crane experience • Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility • Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding Salary: $18-23 Hourly. A starting salary higher than $18 hourly is based on a level of experience and education that significantly exceeds the minimum requirements and is commensurate with the compensation scale. As a Pipe Welder you will: • Interpret manufacturing drawings and blueprints to determine welding requirements. • Perform welding tasks using various techniques such as MIG, TIG, and Stick welding. • Operate welding equipment safely and effectively. • Inspect welded components to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications. • Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule. • Follow established welding procedures and protocols. • Adhere to safety standards and practices to maintain a safe work environment. This is a Full Time Temp to Hire Opportunity. Schedule: 1st Shift 7am to 3:30pn Monday - Friday must be open to working overtime on Saturday. The Ideal candidate will have: • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Pipe Welder or similar role. Must have experience welding pipe. • Proficiency in TIG and MIG welding techniques. • Ability to interpret manufacturing drawings and blueprints. • Strong attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. • Weld pipe systems and assemblies using SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW processes based on project specifications • Interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols to determine welding requirements • Perform fit-up and layout of pipe sections, fittings, and components • Inspect welds for accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety and code standards (e.g., ASME, API) • Use cutting tools such as plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, and saws to prep pipe for welding • Measure, cut, grind, and bevel pipe accurately using proper tools and techniques • Conduct pressure tests and visual inspections on completed welds as required • Knowledge of welding safety procedures and practices. • Ability to work independently and in a team environment. • Certification in welding techniques preferred. • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in welding is a plus. • Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully. • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with ease of movement in a fast-paced environment. • Engage in repetitive motion, clutch, lift, grab, bend, stoop, push, and pull without difficulties. • Stand for extended periods during work shifts.
