Fabrication Welder

Fabrication / Welder JOB ID #67321 Our client is a fast-growing agricultural equipment manufacturing company operating in the Central Valley Agriculture Industry that is seeking Welders/Fabricators. The Fabrication / Welder position will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand welding equipment, performs skill manual labor along a fabrication and welding department. This person operates, trouble-shoots and maintains production line machinery and computers. May perform minor repairs as necessary. Location: Merced, CA. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job. • Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment. • Monitors the welding, burning, and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion, or shrinkage. • Prepares, assembles, and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded. • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area. • Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered • Operate production machinery and welders. • Troubleshoot production line machinery. • Perform equipment changeovers. • Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications. • Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs). • Operate forklift to maintain raw material supply for the production line (only if certified). • Complete daily production logs. • Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) on production line machinery, welders & equipment. • Communicate with fabricators / welders from other shifts. • Clean and maintain work area. • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use. • Willing to work overtime both daily and weekends. • Able to work both day shift and/or second shift. • Must follow OSHA requirements, keeping a clean shaved facial surface around the respirator seal. • Other duties as assigned. • Performs other related duties as assigned ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work. • Perform resupply of inventory for parts and production supermarkets. • Provide on-the-job training to new employees. • Order materials from other work areas when needed. Maintain material supply adhering to just in time and lean manufacturing principles. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS • Basic reading, writing in English and arithmetic skills required. This is normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent. • Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance and repair. • Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints. • Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms. • Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments. WORKING CONDITIONS Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 50 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. PHYSICAL CONDITIONS • 30 to 40 percent of the job requires lifting carrying holding and manipulating objects weighting excess of 50 pounds. • Able to bend over. • Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead. • Able to push and pull. • Able to stand on feet for duration of shift. • Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work. Especially: skill and ease in using both hands • Must be able to see details at close range. • Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials. Schedule: • 8-hours (2 Different Shifts) • Day shift/Night Shift • Mon – Sat.
