MarBorg Recovery Job Description JOB TITLE: Welder LOCATION: MRF Tajiguas Landfill FLSA EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: PREPARED DATE: 10/19/2023 REPORTS TO: Operations Manager DIRECT REPORTS: None POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the welding related maintenance and repair of Material Recovery Facility (MRF) equipment including, conveyors, shredders, mechanical screens, baler and other associated equipment. Must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential. A TYPICAL DAY: This is not just a job; this is a dedicated team determined to redefine waste recovery. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: • Perform all tasks safely and in accordance with applicable CalOSHA and Company rules and regulations. • Attendance and successful accomplishment of all safety and compliance training • Fabricate/repair metal components to restore full functionality and safety performance. • Solve problems and develop innovative solutions. • Maintain tools and equipment to a professional standard. Keep work area clean and orderly to retain a safe and operational work environment. • Coordinate workflow with other members of the team. • Work independently or with a small team to complete large and complex projects. • Employ physical strength and endurance to complete all welding tasks. • Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements) • Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps. • Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety. • Performs routine maintenance and repair work. • Notifies others of emergencies, problems, or hazards. • Sweeps and uses shovels to clean facility when needed. • Maintains and organizes welding equipment and tools. • Maintains various activity records and logs of supplies and equipment used. • Inventories or restocks frequently used supplies and materials. • Completes required paperwork associated with all repairs. • Use of Fall Protection, Lock out Tag out, and other Safety Equipment. • Use of other hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical tools and equipment. • Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.) • Help make this a fun place to work. • Perform all other duties as assigned in a professional and efficient manner. • Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals. • Supports the MarBorg Mission. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE: • 7+ years of experience. • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. • Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. • Ability to read and interpret safety procedures, operating and maintenance manuals, technical documents, drawings, and measurements. • Ability to take measurements to plan layout and procedures. • Knowledge of various welding techniques, including MIG, arc, oxy-fuel welding, air carbon arc gouging. • Knowledge of the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements. • Ability to fabricate parts and/or components relative to need or availability. • Ability to weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead) SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATIONS: Welding certification not necessarily required but preferred. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following: • Inspects and perform welding repairs structural damage on trash containers, compactors and roll off boxes, trucks and other equipment. • Welds steel and aluminum components using Mig and arc welding equipment. • Fabricates steel components for company equipment and trucks. • Cut, grind and prep metal surfaces for welding using torches, plasma cutters and grinders. • Work closely with management and shop personnel to prioritize and complete daily tasks. • Ensure proper completion of work order associated with repairs utilizing fleet maintenance software program to document time and parts usage. • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance and always wear proper PPE according to company policy and OSHA Standards. • Assist in routine maintenance and special welding projects. • Performs other duties may be assigned.
