Common Welding and Cutting Skills Related to Position: • Must be very proficient in manual TIG Welding (Primary Welding Function) • Must be very proficient in manual MIG Welding (Secondary Welding Function) • Must be very proficient in manual Plasma and Oxy-Acetylene torch cutting Common materials candidate will work with: • Carbon steel (Primarily) with common thicknesses of 1/16”, 1/8”, 3/16”, 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”, 1/2” and occasionally larger gauges • Stainless steel (TIG; Primarily 304 grade and some 316 grade) with common thicknesses ranging from 20 gauge to 10 gauge Primary Responsibilities include: • REQUIRED: Must have the ability to accurately fit structural frameworks, space frames, skids, double boiler tank assemblies (25 gallon and 60 gallon), housings, sealed and pressurized ASME and Non-ASME pressure vessels and other items from materials, such as angle iron, I-beams, and plate steel, using hand tools and welding equipment by following photographs, sketches and blueprint specifications. (If you have no experience as a fitter, please do not apply for this position.) • Clamp, hold, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolt component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding. • Measure, cut, fit, tack-weld and assemble mounts, brackets, beams and other various structural components to skid mounted equipment. • Weld components in flat, vertical or overhead positions. • Start power supplies with the proper selection setting the material requires. • Safely ignite torches, strike an arc with an electrode to metal material. • Safely and accurately operate a horizontal band saw for cutting raw materials. • Grinding and feathering welds/edges/etc. • Work in a team with machinists and assemblers to complete projects. • Read and comprehend engineering and CAD drawings. • Perform math operations to calculate angles, bends and connections from prints, drawings or photos. • Manage necessary supplies in fabrication area, raw materials, consumables, spare parts, sub-assemblies, etc. • Other tasks assigned as needed from management Other qualifications: • Welding Certifications are preferred.
