Fabricator - Sign Welder

Some of the many perks offered to our employees are: • Team and family atmosphere • Various opportunities for growth • Options for Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage • Options for STD, LTD and various other coverages • Company paid life insurance • Paid time off • 401k and 401k company matching As a Sign Fabricator with our growing Manufacturing Team, some of the job duties performed will include: • Positioning, aligning, fitting and welding parts to form a complete unit or subunit, following blueprints, and layout specifications while using jigs, welding torches, and hand tools. • Verifying conformance of work pieces to specifications using squares, rulers and measuring tapes • Tack-welding fitted parts together • Layout and examine metal stock or work pieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps or parts in position for welding or riveting • Study engineering drawings and blueprints to determine materials, requirements and task sequences. • Move parts into position manually or with hoists or cranes. • Set up and operate fabricating machines such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders and drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form and assemble metal components. • Additional duties as needed Qualifications, education, and requirements for the Sign Fabricator position include: • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models • Sign Experience highly preferred or welder experience 6G or above • Experience using hand torches, dial indicators, surface gauges, cut off saws, power hacksaws, radial arm saws, center punches, drift pins, punches, shears and workshop presses. • Works well in team environment • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Some trade school coursework preferred • 2-5 years or more experience as a sheet metal fabricator – aluminum welding preferred Physical requirements for the Sign Fabricator position include: Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The work is performed primarily indoors. There are extreme changes to temperature and humidity within the plant and office area. About the Role Superior Industrial Maintenance is looking for a Welder to assist on various jobs that span the U.S. As the welder, you will be proficient in various welding processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core, with the ability to interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications. This role will be responsible for performing welding tasks, ensuring high-quality welds, and adhering to safety procedures and guidelines. Collaboration with team members, problem-solving, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this role. • Perform welding tasks using various processes such as MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux Core in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications. • Operate welding equipment safely and efficiently, including setup, adjustment, and maintenance of machines. • Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications, making adjustments as necessary. • Interpret welding symbols, dimensions, and tolerances on blueprints and drawings. • Utilize hand and power tools to prepare and clean workpieces for welding, including grinding, cutting, and beveling. • Work in accordance with safety procedures and guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a clean and organized work area. • Collaborate with other team members, engineers, and supervisors to troubleshoot and solve welding-related issues. Requirements • OSHA 10 certification or ability to complete OSHA 10 certification within first week of start date (company paid). • Able to lift 50 lbs. or more. • Able to kneel, crouch, bend over, and stand for more than 8 hours at a time. • Ability to communicate through both written and verbal communication. • 1-2 years experience with welding or in the construction industry. • Ability to travel extensively throughout the United States and work weekends/holidays. • Able to assess safety hazards on job sites & use best judgment in dangerous situations All employment at Superior is contingent upon successfully completing a drug screen and background check.
