Mechanical Design Specialist

Mechanical Plant Engineer

Role Summary We’re looking for a hands-on, solutions-driven Mechanical Plant Engineer to join our team! This role ensures our equipment runs smoothly and reliably while leading major projects that improve how we operate. You’ll manage both day-to-day maintenance and long-term upgrades to equipment and infrastructure, working closely with other departments to keep everything running safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. Key Responsibilities • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment—including motors, controls, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, refrigeration, and automation. • Lead facility and equipment upgrade projects from start to finish: planning, budgeting, working with vendors and contractors, and ensuring everything meets quality, safety, and sanitation standards. • Establish and manage preventive maintenance schedules, and maintain records of all equipment and service history. • Supervise engineering and maintenance team members, including training, task delegation, and performance support. • Collaborate with other departments (production, sanitation, quality, accounting) to understand equipment needs and keep operations running smoothly. • Identify opportunities to improve processes and implement new technology or equipment. • Ensure all work complies with GMPs, OSHA standards, and food safety and sanitation requirements. • Provide training and documentation for staff on new or modified equipment. • Maintain and report on quarterly departmental tool and spare parts inventory. • Stay informed about emerging technologies that can benefit the facility. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience. • 7+ years of experience in mechanical or project engineering, ideally in food manufacturing or a similar environment. • 3–5+ years of experience supervising or leading a maintenance or engineering team. • Strong understanding of electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, refrigeration, and facility utilities. • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks. • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. • Able to manage multiple projects and priorities while staying on budget and schedule. Physical Requirements • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. • Frequent standing, walking, and occasional stooping, kneeling, and reaching. • Ability to work any shift, including nights and weekends as needed. • Must have full color vision. Accurate color perception is essential to identify electrical components and read color-coded drawings. Individuals with red-green color deficiencies are not suited for this role. • Visual requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Mechanical Designer

Hope all is well. I have a contract to direct position available in Fort Walton Beach, FL for a Solidworks Mechanical Designer I thought you may have some interest in. Job Due to the military related work, candidates must be US Citizens. Specs are as follows: Responsibilities: • Participating in the design and creation of virtual solid models of new products, modifications and upgrades to existing designs, from detailed component design to full assembly. • Interface as necessary with Engineering to document and detail design requirements, specifications and schedules, and design for manufacturability, reliability and maintainability applying MIL-SPEC, FAA and best commercial practices. • Create 3-D CAD models for individual components, systems and assemblies, while generating tolerance stack up analysis, mass properties, etc., on component assemblies to ensure proper fit and function. • Participate in multi-disciplinary, integrated project teams, representing the Design Group for team activities and decisions. • Effectively communicate progress on projects to management, while ensuring that all work is done in compliance with Quality Requirements, AS9100, company policies, procedures, goals and objectives.
