Job Description I. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: Repair, maintain, tests, troubleshoots, modifies, repairs, and refurbishes complex precision mechanical devices, systems, subsystems, mechanisms and controls for radar and telemetry systems. Works under the general direction of supervisor, senior technicians, or engineering personnel, in the field and manufacturing environments. Work may be performed locally or on business travel. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Inspects, tests, adjusts and certifies basic assemblies, subassemblies, parts and systems for compliance with specifications and quality assurance practices following blueprints, schematics and inspection manuals using hand tools and precision testing equipment. 2. Performs maintenance, repair, corrosion control, and general refurbishment of a wide variety of Instrumentation radars and telemetry systems and subcomponents as part of a Depot Level Maintenance (DLM) project. 3. Repairs basic malfunctions by adjusting, calibrating, aligning or modifying circuitry and mechanical components using hand and power tools. 4. Accomplish assigned tasks around the world and often in an austere environment within a predefined timeline. Ability to rebuild gearboxes, complete recommended maintenance procedures for specific systems. 5. Troubleshoot mechanical problems and implement solutions of associated assemblies to include pedestals, antenna, servo systems, gearbox overhauls, and corrosion control. 6. Uses micrometers, Vernier calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring tools to ensure products meet in-process and final tolerances. 7. Operates standard machine shop equipment to construct, rebuild or repair metal / mechanical parts and equipment HVAC, chillers, antenna, servo sub-systems. 8. Installs equipment field changes. Assembles and/or modifies wires, insulation and components using hand and power tools. Installs assemblies and hardware into housing. 9. Performs other related duties as assigned. Occasionally exposed to disagreeable conditions. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends. Required Education, Experience, & Skills • High School Diploma and five years of related experience. • Previous experience in auto repair, HVAC, or other mechanical field with a foundation in troubleshooting, schematics, and equipment repair. • Ability to repair, maintain, and assemble complex mechanical systems. • Ability to use hand and power tools to diagnose and repair equipment. • Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and blueprints. Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills • Radar, telemetry, and optical mounts. • HVAC/Chillers • Pedestal, servo, antenna sub-systems • Corrosion control • Painting • Fiberglass/carbon fiber experience a plus. Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $45978 - $73564 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
