Job Description As a Construction Cement Mason Finisher you will be responsible for placing and finishing concrete slabs including screeding, rodding, bull floating, edging, darbying, setting forms, and operating power troweling machines. Some of the key items you will need to do on a daily basis will be: • Setting screeds; rodding: mucking, grading, shaping, smoothing and finishing the surfaces of freshly poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, curbs, steps, stairways, extruded barrier rails, or any other concrete surface requiring finishing; using hand-tools, including floats, trowels, screeds and straightedge. • Removal of rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, using grinder or chisel and hammer; patching holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound preparatory to sealing; molding expansion joints and edges, using edging tools, jointers and straightedge; cutting joints with concrete saw for the control of cracks in buildings and continuous to buildings. • Application of curing compounds, penetrating sealer and primer protective coatings to concrete traffic barriers, curbs, gutters, and sidewalks for the first 24 hours after pouring; the installation of seamless composition floors; the water-blasting for architectural finish or preparatory to patching. • Measuring, cutting and setting of all forms; setting of barrier, wall, concrete curb, gutter, and sidewalk forms. All clean-up work required in connection with the above work Qualifications The qualifications you need to have for this role are: • Have Union membership • Be comfortable working in all types of weather conditions • Be comfortable working with tools to include but not be limited to: power troweling machine, finishing tools, bull floats, hand floats, hand trowels, muck rake, wheelbarrow, shovel, brushes, sliders, hammer, level, tape measure, and sprayer. • Have safety focused mindset The salary range for this position is between $21 and $65 per hour, based on experience and qualifications. JOB SUMMARY: The Construction Foreman’s position involves administrative, supervisory, and operational responsibilities in managing day-to-day operations of our projects. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Site Responsibilities · Manage the construction and completion of projects to company quality standards and within desired time frames by ensuring the crew understands and follows all the required construction methods and instructions given. · Coordinate daily tasks according to priorities and plans, making changes when necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel. · Maintain a safe work site by implementing safety requirements and good housekeeping regulations, enforcing safe work habits, observing WA Dept of Labor and Industries standards. · Conduct weekly tailgate safety meetings and enforce all safety policies and procedures. · Report all accidents and injuries to Project Manager immediately. · Supervise, train, and provide direction to the construction crew while holding them accountable for the responsibility of their positions. · Maintain compliance with all applicable building codes. · Enforce all safety policies and requirements with all vendors and subcontractors. · Lead by example by helping to promote an atmosphere of dignity and respect among fellow employees, customers, suppliers, and subcontractors ensuring the efficient daily running of them during the build process. · Resolve conflicts or miscommunication that may happen on-site quickly and amicably. · Be proactive in recognizing any issues, address and discuss with Project Manager to find a proactive solution. · Responsible for informing Project Manager daily of his or her progress and to inform of any unforeseen circumstances that may arise. · Coordinate material deliveries, handling, storage, and placement. · Completing daily reports, purchase orders, and delivery tickets and submit to office staff on Fridays at the end of the business day. · Review, verify, and submit timecards to payroll. · Coordinate and conduct inspections with all local jurisdictions and corresponding paperwork. · Perform routine service and maintenance on tools and arrange for timely maintenance to be performed on vehicles and equipment. · Uphold our company’s high set of standards and high level of quality. QUALIFICATIONS: · Ability to successfully perform the essential responsibilities of the position. · Minimum High School Diploma or GED. · Minimum five + years of firsthand experience in all phases of construction. · 3+ years of Foreman/Supervisory experience. · Must have the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and engineering, manage plan changes, and speak effectively with city building inspectors and city department personnel on issues that arise during each phase of construction. · Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, project management (from conception to completion), and planning skills. · Must be knowledgeable of City of Yakima, Yakima County, and state specs. · Maintain regular and punctual attendance. REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES: · Technical Skills: Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction including technology, equipment, and construction methods required for effective performance by crew and subcontractors. Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts. · Safety: Demonstrates a commitment to a culture of safety in all aspects of construction, daily awareness, training, and maintenance of a safe and tidy job site at all times. · Organization Skills: The ability to set priorities, assign tasks, multi-task, and function under deadlines and shifting priorities, and identify and resolve problems. · Communication: Consistently provides timely information to Project Manager, remain consistent in always keeping a professional demeanor. Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the company, as well as vendors and subcontractors. · Team motivation + supervisory skills: Ability to engage, train, and supervise the construction crew with varying skill sets and knowledge providing a rewarding experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: · Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: · The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. · Ability to continuously stand or walk for eight hours per day. · Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, ladders, and lift frequently. · Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally. · Ability to verbally communicate clearly in-person and on the telephone. · Visual acuity sufficient to satisfactorily perform and review construction work to ensure building safety, compliance, and quality. WORK ENVIRONMENT: · The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be higher during different phases of construction. · Ability to work in extreme weather conditions. · Average 40-hour work week. · Occasional work beyond regular work schedule is expected at times.
