The Construction Laborer will work with the Habitat Construction Manager to complete all aspects of Habitat’s construction program in a way that utilizes volunteer labor and materials and produces quality homes for families in a safe and affordable manner. This person must have good interpersonal skills essential to the growth of the Affiliate. They must also represent the foundational principles of Habitat for Humanity. Qualifications: • Experienced in all aspects of home construction and repair or willing and able to learn • Must be able to pass background check • Must have reliable transportation Duties: The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: • Assist and work with the Construction Manager to carry out the construction plan. • Use current skills and talents to build and guide building of the Habitat homes. • Work with all concerned to assure safety on the worksite during construction: volunteer safety, tools, job site environment, inspections, etc. • Pick up and deliver materials and tools to various sites as directed. • Learn skills from the construction Manager (or Habitat International) needed to assist in completing the work at the site. • Work with and help supervise construction volunteers on site as needed. Teach as necessary. • Assists Manager to provide materials needed and makes sure they are on site, while taking the possibility of theft into consideration at all times. • All other duties as assigned. Information Management • Turn in receipts and invoices to Habitat office and ensure they are clearly marked for job site in a timely manner. • Take on-line safety class and learn accident and injury procedures. • Keep Construction Manager apprised of progress made and any problems that may arise Minimal Job Requirements: • Commitment to Habitat’s housing ministry goals • Some experience in construction work • Ability to relate to people of different races, faiths and incomes • Ability to work with Volunteers & Staff • Current driver’s license • Communication skills • Willingness to teach volunteers • Willingness to learn new skills Job Type: Full-time Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour Benefits: • Paid time off Work Location: In person
