CNC Machinist

Your number one responsibility will be setting up and operating CNC machines to produce parts meeting customer specifications. Machinists verify their work by completing in-process inspection measurements and utilizing support from our Quality department and Metrology Lab. Machinists take ownership of their steps in the production process and are entrusted with striving for continual improvement. Machine Operator

Position: Machine Operator Shift: 2 Monday - Thursday 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM Location: Stevens Point, WI Reporting Relationship: Machine Operators will report to the Department Lead/Shift Supervisor. General Responsibilities: • Operate fabricating machines such as cutoff saw, roll, brake, press, forming machine, spinning machine and punch to cut, bend and shape all sorts of steel. • Analyze work orders and read blueprints to determine information such as material to be used and types and sequence of operations to be used for fabrication. • Report accurate quantities, materials used and time in MD Link. • Read job specs to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. • Set stops and guides to specified lengths as indicated by scale, rule or template. • Position workplace against stops or aligns layout marks with die or blade. • Push buttons or pedals to activate machine. • Observe machine operation to detect and prevent work piece defects or machine malfunction. • Measure work pieces dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation. • Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust or scale from work piece. • Perform minor machine maintenance such as oiling machine, dies or work pieces when needed. • Assist in machine set up. • Stack, mark, pack and transport finished work pieces. • Performs all other duties as assigned. Education and Experience: • High School Diploma or GED equivalent. • 1-3 months related experience and/or training. • Certification in forklift operation-to be provided by Steel King. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Read, analyze and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedural manuals. • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. • Apply skills to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form. • Satisfactorily perform essential duties. • Ability to respond to common inquiries. • Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure. • Calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Physical Demands and Work Environment: • Frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and occasionally sitting, climbing or balancing. • Regularly exposed to moving, mechanical parts. • Requires regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 70 pounds. • Specific vision requirements; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust your focus. • Must properly follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures including wearing and utilizing the proper PPE required of this position. • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
