Role Mission We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience with various machining processes. The machinist is responsible for operating a variety of machine tools with a high level of accuracy in our job shop environment. This position is not a manufacturing position. We are an electric motor repair shop, so most projects are unique to the customer and motor. Key Job Responsibilities • Setup and operation of machines to manually produce or repair parts. • Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing and illustrations. • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes. • Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment. • Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed. • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch, and stick welders. • Set up and perform tool-post fringing operations (e.g. precision surface facing), broaching procedures and bearing work. • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc. • Perform outside field service repairs and estimating work as necessary. • Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.) • Keep work area clean and organized. • Adhere to all company policies. • All other duties as assigned. Competencies • High School Diploma is required. Technical Certification or Associates Degree in a related field is preferred. • Experience in rotating apparatus repair (AC and DC electric motors, pumps, blowers, etc.) preferably in an electric motor shop environment. • Experience in manual machining of parts and pieces to produce or repair a product. • Mechanical skills in troubleshooting, electrical theory and understanding of AC and DC motors desired. • Understanding of Microsoft Office products is ideal. • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently. • Must have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
