We boldly challenge what’s possible for a sustainable world. Job Classification: Machine Operator I JOB DESCRIPTION: MOI job performs technical machining manufacturing processes. Primary need for 2nd shift, Monday-Thursday 4:00pm-2:30am. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Strong technical knowledge of a variety of manufacturing equipment and processes. 2. Work involves considerable stooping, bending, and working on overhead assembles and on man lifts/platforms/risers/ladders. 3. Will be required to lift up to 35 pounds. 4. Receives work instructions from a member of management or a team lead. 5. Be able to follow standard work, complete production and maintenance records, such as but not limited to TPM inspections and other documentation related to operations (example: Apriso, Win SPC, OEE, QCS, and TPM) 6. Must participate in basic problem solving, 5-S, and lean activities. Pitch boards, MDIs, etc. 7. Must demonstrate the ability to perform the above duties. 8. Meet and maintain all safety requirements. Includes PPE, hoist, and PIV checklist 9. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Associates degree or certification degree and/or equivalent on the job experience. 2. Ability to navigate machine control, auto or manual mode. 3. Ability to perform tool offsets change and update, understand speed and feed, and zeroing the machine. 4. Ability to read and understand CNC machine programs and M&G codes. 5. Ability to read prints, drawings, and understand part tolerances. Use various gauges to verify and meet tolerance requirements in machined parts. 6. Demonstrate basic computer skills. 7. Demonstrated reliability. Pay and Benefits: Starting pay $27.42 Second Shift and Weekend Shift Premium Vacation – Upon completion of probationary period. The employee who performs this job has the responsibility to maintain proper housekeeping in the work area and keep machines in good operating condition. Is also responsible for the safety and quality workmanship and procedures. • Sets up and operates all horizontal and vertical mills in the machine shop area. • Faces, turns, mills, chamfers, drills, threads, slots and bores aluminum, steel products and assemblies using the above machines. • Change milling tools and other tools as required. • Sets up and operates engine lathe. • Sets up and operates a radial drill press. • Performs drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, counterboring, chamfering and hole sawing using the above machines. • Sets up and operates all single spindle drill presses. • Drills, reams, counterbores, chamfers, and taps various parts using the above machines. • Sets up and operates a 5-ton hydraulic press to straighten and size parts. • Sets up and operates all saws. Operations included are saws pipe, angles, flat plate, miters and scarfs header bodies from aluminum or steel. • Sets up and operates power and hand rollers to form parts per print. • Sets up and operates nibbler using it to rough cut material and cut 1/4" parting sheets. • Sets up and operates pedestal grinder use in sharpening tools and bits. • Sets up and operates a band saw spot welder station to assemble saw blades. • Sets up and operates a plasma cutter to include the usage of a PLC. • Sets up and operates 500-ton brake press to form, straighten and size parts. • Cleans parts in cleaning tanks. • Maintains cleaning tanks. Your Physical Work Environment Will Require... Works in the average factory environment being exposed to cutting oils, noise, sharp edges, moving equipment, hot flying chips, some smoke, and with chemical cleaning solutions. Must wear side shields and additional safety equipment where required. Requires standing, sitting, bending, reaching, pulling, and most lifting 0 to 50 lbs. When lifting over 50 lbs., two people are required. Your Education and Experience Should Be... The incumbent must have sufficient knowledge and ability to: • High School diploma (or GED) • Read prints and interpret machining requirements. • Set up and operate machines and equipment listed above. • Modify and use tooling and fixturing. • Use all measuring devices associated with machining to close tolerances (.000 to .060). • Must use math using decimals and fractions. • Must understand good machining practices (feeds, speeds, cutters, and materials). • Good hand/eye coordination. • Ability and knowledge to check and verify that all parts meet requirements and specifications.
