CNC Machinist Job Description Overview We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and experience in operating CNC machinery. This role is essential for producing high-precision components that meet our quality standards. The CNC Machinist will work closely with management and other team members to ensure that all specifications are met and that production processes run smoothly. The hours are 6:00am-4:00pm, Monday-Thursday. Duties • Operate CNC machines, including lathes, to manufacture parts according to specifications. • Utilize coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and calipers to inspect finished products for accuracy. • Perform routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance. • Collaborate with the management team to troubleshoot and resolve production issues. • Implement Lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste. • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety protocols. Experience • 5 years of experience in operating CNC machinery, including lathes and mills. • Some college • Familiarity with ISO standards and documentation practices. • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings. • Familiarity with measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers. • Understanding of Lean manufacturing practices is a plus. • Previous experience in a machining or manufacturing environment is highly desirable. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Retrieve CNC programs and load to the machine • Setup, load, and operate CNC machines to produce parts per prints • Edit in G-code and manually program using Mazatrol Control • Setup fixturing and come up with your own set ups on machine • Perform first piece and in-process quality inspections • Setup cutters in holders and adjust height and length • Read drawings/prints to identify operations, specification, and tolerances • Meet precise tolerances and finishing requirements • Use various hand tools to finish parts and check • Use measuring devices like micrometers and calipers to ensure specifications are met • Perform operator maintenance tasks like oiling, greasing, and cleaning the machine (5S) • Use forklift or crane to store and retrieve fixturing and other essential equipment • Operate other machines in the department as needed QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma required. Advanced education or apprenticeship preferred. • 5 years of CNC mill set-up and programming experience required. • Mazak experience preferred. • Strong skills in editing G-code and manual programming in Mazatrol preferred. • Strong math skills and the ability to work from detailed and involved part drawings and specifications to perform operations to the capacity of the machine and controls are also essential. • Willingness to move between work centers.
