CNC Machinist

Job Summary: The Machinist is responsible for advanced setup, programming, and operation of CNC equipment to manufacture high-precision implants and instruments. This role includes troubleshooting complex machining processes, designing and building tooling, and training junior machinists. The Machinist ensures production efficiency, product quality, and full compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Job Responsibilities: • Set up and operate multiple types of CNC machines to produce precision components according to engineering specifications. • Achieve or exceed established production, quality, and delivery targets while maintaining regulatory compliance. • Diagnose and resolve machining, tooling, and fixture issues; support process and equipment improvements. • Modify and optimize CNC programs in partnership with Manufacturing Engineering. • Design and fabricate tooling and fixtures needed for production processes. • Train and mentor Level I and II CNC Machinists on setup, operation, and inspection best practices. • Ensure proper inspection methods and accurate use of metrology equipment to meet quality requirements. • Maintain full compliance with FDA, ISO, and other applicable regulatory standards. • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and report any deviations immediately. • Adhere to safety and environmental policies and support continuous improvement initiatives. • Apply knowledge of the company’s Quality Management System and relevant manufacturing standards. • Provide technical guidance and support to team members and cross-functional departments as needed. Required Skills & Qualifications: • 10–20 years of machining experience with strong CNC expertise and advanced manufacturing knowledge. • Proficient in CNC program writing, editing, and troubleshooting. • Extensive experience with various CNC machine types, controls, and toolpaths. • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles. • Skilled in designing tooling, fixtures, and process plans for precision manufacturing. • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability. • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to train, coach, and mentor others. • Highly detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Job Description • Set up and operate a variety of CNC machines to produce high-precision components according to engineering specifications. • Meet or exceed production and quality standards to ensure on-time delivery and regulatory compliance. • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, or fixture issues and assist in resolving equipment or process challenges. • Edit and adjust CNC programs as needed in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering. • Design and build tooling or fixtures required for production operations. • Train and mentor Level I and II CNC Machinists on machine setup, operation, and inspection procedures. • Ensure proper inspection setups and accurate use of inspection equipment to meet quality standards. • Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including FDA and ISO standards. • Follow all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and report process deviations promptly to leadership. • Uphold all safety and environmental policies and participate in continuous improvement initiatives. • Apply knowledge of the company’s Quality Management System and relevant federal or international manufacturing standards. • Provide assistance and technical support to team members, cross-functional teams, and other departments as needed. CNC Machinist - Days

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Set-up, maintain and operate machine shop equipment, machine tools, including our jig boring machine, manual mill, lathe and surface grinder. • Produce quality components to Engineering drawings and sketches. • Work to acceptable production and quality standards. • Adhere to Health & Safety policies, quality procedures and job specific work instructions. • Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management. Experience: • 3 years Machine shop experience. • Haas CNC machine as asset • Grinding experience an asset Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge: • Capable of safely operating all Machine Shop tools and equipment including cranes and tow motor. • Able to complete process checks & inspection for quality and accuracy based upon engineering specifications. • Able to effectively communicate to Lead Hands and Supervisors on problems relating to production, scrap, tooling, and equipment. • Capable of setting up, identifying, and replacing cutting tools. • Capable of troubleshooting process and tooling problems including communication of root cause findings. • Assist with tool studies, process development and product or process improvements.
