CNC Machinist

Job Title CNC Machinist Job Purpose Responsible for operating machine tools to produce precision metal parts. Produces small batches or large quantities of metal parts. Ensure products meet precise specifications. Manager (reporting to) Plant Manager Additional Reporting N/A Position Type Hourly: Non-Exempt Area Job Covers The CNC Machinist will be located at one of the respective TSMI Branch or Plant locations in the United States. Organizational Information The CNC Machinist reports to the Plant Manager and interfaces with the plant personnel. Key Tasks, Responsibilities and Essential Accountabilities The Machinist’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Operate standard mills or lathes. • CNC vertical mills. • Simple programming troubleshoot and updates. • Machine PM. • Tool optimization decisions dealing with tool suppliers. • Machine both production parts and assembly, test and inspection fixtures. • Competent with math and tolerances. • Effectively utilize measuring equipment. • Performs a variety of production tasks, as assigned, to meet production needs. • Maintains a clean and orderly work order. • Maintains assigned equipment. • Responsible for quality control of in-process goods and finished products. • Assumes additional job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Production Manager. • Promotes the building of quality products by adhering to the quality guidelines as established by TSMI. • Promotes a safe work environment by adhering to all safety policies as established by the TSMI location. • Performs other duties as required for the success of TSMI. Education and Experience Required • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent or work experience equivalent. Licensing or Other Special Requirements • Requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. • Forklift certification required by OSHA. Outputs/Reports and Performance Measurements • Applicable department performance as communicated by your manager. • Adherence to standards for scrap and warranty returns. • Others, as required. Travel Requirements • N/A Physical Requirements • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of core making equipment. • Work environment: Plant; Warehouse; Distribution • Personal Protective Equipment Requirements (per location as specified by Manager). CNC Machinist - Afternoons

RESPONSIBILITIES: • Set-up, maintain and operate machine shop equipment, machine tools, including our jig boring machine, manual mill, lathe and surface grinder. • Produce quality components to Engineering drawings and sketches. • Work to acceptable production and quality standards. • Adhere to Health & Safety policies, quality procedures and job specific work instructions. • Follow written and verbal instructions from Lead Hand and Management. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: • Grade 12 or equivalent • Knowledge of standard Machine Shop practices. • Able to read mechanical blueprints and use standard measuring tools (i.e. vernier or dial calipers, micrometer, height gauge and bore gauges). Experience: • 3 years Machine shop experience. • Haas CNC machine as asset • Grinding experience an asset Specific Skill Ability and Knowledge: • Capable of safely operating all Machine Shop tools and equipment including cranes and tow motor. • Able to complete process checks & inspection for quality and accuracy based upon engineering specifications. • Able to effectively communicate to Lead Hands and Supervisors on problems relating to production, scrap, tooling, and equipment. • Capable of setting up, identifying, and replacing cutting tools. • Capable of troubleshooting process and tooling problems including communication of root cause findings. • Assist with tool studies, process development and product or process improvements. CNC Operator

Job Summary: This position is responsible for running a variety of CNC (Computer Numerical Control) Grinding machines which remove material from the OD (outer Diameter) and ID (Inner Diameter) to a certain size, finish, roundness, and straightness as specified in the part print/control plan.
