Job Summary: A precision CNC machinist performs basic CNC programming as needed, sets up & operates CNC machines to produce parts and components according to specifications. We are predominantly a high mix / low volume manufacturer to many varied industries including aerospace, defense, food service and others. We work with a wide array of materials, shapes & sizes of parts. There are always new challenges to be met. Some basic manual machining will also be occasionally required. Responsibilities · Must be proficient at setting up CNC Mills and Lathes tool offsets and fixture offsets. · Knowledge of cutting tools and fixtures and tool holders. · Basic programming skills. · Maintains and edits CNC programs to and offset tooling to make the part to print and improve cycle times. · Knowledge of speed and feeds and depth of cuts. · Follows sequence of operations on job routing and completing routers. · Knowledge of following set-up sheets and following set-up requirements. · Verifies dimensions and alignment using measuring instruments to include micrometers, height gages, gage blocks and other inspection equipment. · Works closely with CNC manager, and others to resolve part and machining problems as they occur. Qualifications • A minimum of 5 years work experience on CNC Mills and Lathes is a plus. • Quality oriented and conscientious • Running 2 machines when time permits. • Always adheres to Company safety policies • Reliable with excellent attendance record. Work O/T as needed. • Takes direction and works well with others • Be willing to take on and perform other duties as requested. As a machinist you will be responsible for safely setting up and operating 5-axis CNC machines to produce the highest quality parts and meet the customer expectations, in the most efficient manner. Operate 3 to 5-axis CNC machine tools to accurately machine parts per work instructions and per manufacturing plan.At all times utilize appropriate Personal Protection Equipment (PPE.) (e.g., shoes, gloves, masks, etc.) to minimize exposure to hazards that cause serious workplace injuries and illnesses.Perform quality inspections to ensure accurate production of parts throughout the process.Handles parts and materials with great care as well as maintaining cleanliness of them to ensure quality of product and condition of equipment. Proactively supports work of department and team by maintaining communication through Teams/ Email and participating in shift change meetings; demonstrating collaboration and problem-solving attributes. Accurately record and interpret production information in PLEX such as verifying track numbers, substitute part revision, and machine down time, (etc.).Utilize systems to document and review information, including maintenance dispatch, completed Preventative Maintenance, and document measurement scans. Produces parts according to standards by utilizing production documentation, correctly loading, and unloading parts on machine, and verifying part orientation.Strictly work instructions, setup sheets and other production related information.Perform assigned preventative maintenance and maintain coolant lines and nozzle positioning.Set up machines for production to ensure they're operating correctly. Assist in applying lean manufacturing concepts and 5S. Demonstrate ownership of continuous improvement ideas and activities. Minimum of High school diploma or GED. 3+ years of CNC Machining experience on 3 or 5 axis CNC machines.Must have machine control experience. Must have shop math skills.Microsoft Office experience (specifically Excel)Knowledge of 5S and Lean manufacturing concepts.Understand tool and machine offsets as well as how to read machine programs.Capable of applying standard practices and techniques within their work.Detail oriented.Quality and safety minded.Good written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications: Certificate from Technical School or Trade School.Knowledge of GD&T.Experience machining Si, glass or other brittle material.Physical Demands:Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
