HMC Machinist

SUMMARY: Sets up and operates conventional, special purpose, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate metallic parts. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers. Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine controls or control media as required. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. Sets up and operates machine on trail run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Fits and assemblies parts into complete assembly. Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly. Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance. Operates welding equipment to cut or weld parts. Develops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be fabricated. Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job does not include supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Machinist 1- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Machinist 2- One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Machinist 3- Associate’s degree (A. A.) ore equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings, technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Must be able to respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or customers. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of numbers including decimals and fractions. Uses simple formulae, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, schedules. Checks reports, forms, records and comparable data where interpretation is required involving basic skills knowledge. REASONING ABILITY: Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, talk, walk, hear, reach with hands and arms, stoop and bend. Set-Up Machinist

SUMMARY: We are seeking experienced CNC Machinists/ Operators who will be responsible for setting up and operating numerically controlled multi-axis turning and/or milling machines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Read and understand drawings and operation sheets including knowledge of GD&T • Set up and operate complex, precision machining jobs with minimal supervision • Perform first piece in process inspection using standard measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges and dial gauges • Ensure all standard quality procedures are followed such as machine set-up, operation, inspection, documentation and material handling • Utilize the ERP system and document the required in-process inspection dimensions. • Maintain clean, organized and safe work environment following all safety standards and requirements • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as required Qualifications: • High School diploma or equivalent education and experience required • 3-5 years of CNC multi-axis turning or milling machining experience including set-up and troubleshoot • Demonstrated skill working in a team environment • Must have a positive attitude • Experience in Aerospace or precision component manufacturing preferred • Experience with Lean Manufacturing a plus DRT is a dynamic and growing organization that offers competitive compensation and excellent benefits: company paid life and dental insurance along with available medical (BENEFITS available Day One), disability, and (voluntary) life insurances.
