See More Details >>The 3rd Shift Machine Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective operation, monitoring, and maintenance of production machinery (e.g., plastics extrusion or similar manufacturing equipment) to ensure the timely production of high-quality, conforming materials in line with production forecasts and quality standards. This role requires working with minimal supervision during the overnight shift. Key Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities Machine Operation & Setup: • Setup: Prepare and set up production equipment and supplies before executing manufacturing orders, which may include setting controls, loading raw materials, and installing/adjusting parts. • Operation: Safely and effectively operate and monitor machinery (e.g., extruder, thermoforming, or trimming machines) to ensure continuous and efficient production. • Adjustment: Control and adjust machine settings (e.g., speed, temperature, pressure) as needed to optimize performance and product quality. • Material Handling: Load raw materials, parts, or components into hoppers, conveyors, or other feeding devices. Quality Control & Inspection: • Inspection: Conduct regular quality checks on products (e.g., film, sheet, or formed parts) using precision and measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers). • Compliance: Ensure the final product output adheres to quality specifications and customer requirements. • Defects: Inspect and remove defective units or products and report quality issues immediately. Maintenance & Troubleshooting: • Troubleshooting: Monitor the machine cycle and production line for problems (e.g., jams, malfunctions) and troubleshoot/resolve minor issues quickly to minimize downtime. • Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment, tools, and work areas to ensure good and safe working condition. • Repair Coordination: Report any mechanical concerns, equipment malfunctions, or needed repairs to the Production Supervisor or Maintenance team promptly. Safety & Documentation: • Safety Compliance: Operate equipment and perform all duties safely, strictly following all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations (including GMPs). • Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area at all times, ensuring good housekeeping practices. • Reporting: Accurately complete required production logs and reports (manual or data entry), including production output, material usage, scrap/reject results, and machine operational status. • Cross-Training: Participate in cross-training and learn other positions in the plant as required.
