As a Machinist, you will be working with a variety of machines and manufacturing equipment as needed and per blueprint or job order specifications. CNC Machining Estimator ( {{city}})

Position Summary The Estimator works under the direction of the Director of Sales in collaboration with the General Manager and other operational areas to estimate and quote materials and milling costs relevant to CNC Machining. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Oversees the RFQ process and must be able to estimate times, material and route CNC lathe and milling operations. • Completes estimates on program set up, cycle times and other required procedures. • Demonstrates working knowledge of costs and procedures associated with quoting metal and plastic parts from prototype through low production quantities (1-5000) • Lays out the manufacturing process by calculating material requirements, machining procedures and outside vendor requirements. • Reviews drawings, data, and quoting required to successfully estimate all in-house and outside manufacturing operations to meet customer requirements. • Interprets drawing specifications and customer requirements to provide full cost estimating to provide costs and lead time to customers. • Demonstrates strong customer service and sales skills to be able to follow up and negotiate with customers when required regarding pricing and lead time. • Communicates with internal departments including purchasing, manufacturing, and quality to obtain estimated costs and lead times. • Communicates with vendors if needed to obtain outside secondary costs • Works as a professional team member with other department employees and all managers and non-managers in the shop contributing to a collegial, professional, and respectful environment. • Follows all applicable ISO standards and safety protocols including use of appropriate PPE. • Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Position Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Education/Training: • High school diploma or GED required. Associate degree preferred or completion of Technical School Certification with a concentration in Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Computers or Mathematics. • Demonstrated credentials in CNC machine operation, EDM, G and M codes, and other relevant competencies. • Ability to read, write and communicate in English. • Must be able to read blueprints or schematics, have a working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances and be able to utilize CAD/PDF drawings. Experience : • Minimum of five (5) years experience as a CNC Machinist setting up machining centers and lathes, including prior experience as an estimator. • Demonstrated prior experience and knowledge in CNC Machining set up and operation to produce parts and tools from metal, plastic, or other materials. • Prior Job Boss software experience preferred. • Certification/Licensure: Technical School Certification or post-secondary schooling that included training in math, blueprint reading, and metalworking. • Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in mathematical skills including the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
