Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Machine Setup and Operation: • Set up and operate various types of centerless grinding machines, such as through-feed, plunge, and form grinding machines. • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine appropriate machine settings, tooling, and grinding parameters. • Load and align workpieces accurately in the machine, ensuring proper clamping and posiƟoning. • Select and install appropriate grinding wheels, dressing tools, and other tooling required for the job. • Program and adjust machine controls, feed rates, speeds, and other parameters to achieve desired specificaƟons and tolerances. • Monitor the grinding process, making necessary adjustments to maintain consistent quality and opƟmize producƟon efficiency. • Perform rouƟne maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, lubricaƟng, and minor repairs, to ensure proper machine operaƟon and longevity. Quality Control and Inspection: • Inspect workpieces using various measurement instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and surface finish gauges, to verify conformance to specifications. • Identify and document any non-conformances or quality issues, and initiate corrective actions as needed. • Collaborate with quality control personnel to ensure adherence to aerospace quality standards and regulation • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentaƟon, including job travelers, production logs, and inspection records. Continuous Improvement and Safety: • Participate in conƟnuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing, process optimization, and problem-solving activities. • Suggest improvements to processes, tooling, or machine setups to enhance productivity, quality, or safety. • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures, including proper machine guarding, personal protective equipment (PPE), and lockout/tagout procedures. • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following good housekeeping practices. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in machining or manufacturing is preferred. • Minimum of 2 years of experience operating centerless grinding machines or similar precision grinding equipment. • Proficiency in reading and interpreƟng engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions. • Familiarity with various measurement instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and surface finish gauges. • Basic understanding of machining principles, including speeds, feeds, and tooling selection. • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulaƟons relevant to grinding operations. • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams. • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, move workpieces, and perform manual tasks as required. • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols and procedures.
