Key Responsibilities: As a Machinist Technician, you will work in the fast-paced San Francisco Technical Operation department. You will play a very important role in providing service to our internal customers. The Machinist Technician should have a strong confirmed understanding and abilities to perform repairs and manufacture parts daily including the required following duties and qualifications: • Comprehensive knowledge of four major machine groups: Lathes, Milling Machines, Grinders, and Drills through a formal apprenticeship program or extensive experience. • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and ARs/ Rus. • Must be familiar with precision measuring instruments and have the ability to machine parts to close tolerances. Must be able to set up, operate, and function competently as a machinist on at least two of the following machine tool types: • Grinder – Precision internal and external, CNC and conventional • Lathes – Engine and vertical, CNC and conventional • Milling Machines – Horizontal boring mills and vertical milling machines, CNC and conventional • Hand Blending – High Strength Steel, Exotic Materials • Honing – Automatic and hand • Bushing Installation and bench work • All Machinists will be required to train on all machine tools and machining processes performed in the landing gear focus repair cell. Cross training and classroom training will be an ongoing process. Machinist Technicians are required to work around-the-clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, outdoors in all weather conditions. Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority. Machinist Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). Salary increases will be coordinated according to the current IBT/United contract. Shift differentials of $.51 and $.58 cents per hour for working an afternoon or evening shift respectively are paid in addition to the hourly rate. New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment. There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues. Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): • Must have a high school diploma/GED or education equivalent. • Customer focused • 2 years experience required in general machinist work and successful completion of a trade test • Must be at least 18 years of age • Valid US driver's license (revoked, suspended, or expired is not considered valid) • Must pass a 10-year background check • Must be willing to take a pre-placement physical, skills assessment test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen • Candidate must clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to acquire and retain credentials vital for the position • Position-specific clearances may include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal service clearances • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship • Successful completion of interview and assessment required to meet job qualification • Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position United Airlines is an equal opportunity employer. CNC Machinist - 2nd & 3rd shifts - Springfield, NJ

Under minimum supervision working from blueprints, sketches written and/or verbal instructions, sets up and performs the most diversified and complex progressive machining, fitting and assembly operations. Determines proper tooling and sequence of operations, and skillfully uses all machinists’ hand tools and machine shop measuring equipment in order to produce work to specifications. Must be able to make complicated set-ups and operate available machine tools; determine operational sequences, proper jigs, fixtures and design of tool to be used. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Must be able to make complicated set-ups and operate available machine tools; determine operational sequences, proper jigs, fixtures and design of tools to be used. • Must be able to skillfully use all machinist’s hand tools and measuring instruments. • Must be familiar with the machining of most materials. • Must be able to use advanced shop math, including trigonometry. • Moves parts to and from the work area. • Maintains good housekeeping in the work area. • Meets all safety requirements in the machine shop and follows all company policies. • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by supervision. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIIES REQUIRED • Ability to operate standard and specialized equipment to produce prototype and/or production parts • Ability to perform standard shop computations, using technical math, geometry and trigonometry. • Candidate must have “Team” like mentality and be willing to work with a group EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED • Proficient use of set up and operation of CNC machining center. • Proficient use of tool and surface grinders • Proficient use of all shop inspection equipment, including but not limited to, CMM, comparator, digital height gages, micrometers, etc. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Requires a High school diploma or equivalent education • Requires the completion of an apprenticeship program or similar on the job experience of approximately four years or at least five years experience as a machinist. • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Moderate physical activity. • Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds and pushing, pulling or standing and walking for extended periods of time.
