Machine Operator

Reporting to the Packing Supervisor, this position is responsible for the setup, bending, assembling, and inspection of components in the frame bending area. Essential Functions • Perform routine maintenance and maintains PM checks • Setup and operate CNC tube bending machines, lathes, waterjet, drill presses, milling machines, welding and other machining equipment • Understanding of G and M code programming • Ability to create, alter or repair of a wide variety of jigs, fixtures, tools, and gages. • Ability to understand and use CAD/CAM software • Ability to work from tool designs, blueprints, sketches, and company/customer specifications, written or from verbal instructions, etc. • Measure parts being fabricated using scales, protractors, micrometers, calipers, indicators, CMM or other measurement devices. • Monitor part quality to engineering drawings or other documentation with minimal supervision. • Monitor part quality and notify designated person if problems with quality develop. • Analyze problems arising from use of tools, dies, jigs and fixtures and be able to make suitable recommendations so as to improve the same and eliminate recurring problems. • Assemble finished goods components • Assist and technically direct assigned employees as part of a team and assure their work conforms to specifications. • Report defective material or any unusual condition or circumstance to supervisor. Maintain records and other information as instructed. • Follow all safety regulations. • Actively supports and complies with the company’s continuous performance improvement initiatives. • Notifies maintenance of any machine requirements and/or repairs. • Maintains safe working environment; ensures workers are using appropriate guards/PPE and monitors for ergonomic hazards. Responsibilities • Ensures own production conforms to requirements of quality and schedule. • Inspects input/output quality requirements on all units processed. • Follows approved procedures to complete all tasks. • Maintains work area in a clean, repaired and organized manner. • Ability to work overtime as business needs dictate. • Ability to perform tasks in other areas as needed. Education & Qualifications • High School Diploma or equivalent. • Vocational Technical graduate preferred • 3 - 5 years of experience as a machinist/toolmaker or equivalent experience. • Welding experience a plus • Bilingual in Spanish a plus Equipment Used • Personal computer, telephone, pallet jacks, Stand 90% and Sit 10% Note 1) The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to the classification.
