Before you clock out, you restore order with 5S, lock out/tag out anything under maintenance, and leave every machine better than you found it. What You'll Tackle • Independently and safely set up and operate a range of equipment to manufacture and modify precision parts and tooling. • Follow safe work practices, including strict adherence to lock out/tagout procedures when required. • Apply 5S and lean principles to keep your work area organized, uncluttered, and audit-ready. • Take on diverse jobs—sometimes with limited instructions or information—while maintaining accuracy and pace. • Work from sketches, verbal direction, and prints to produce/modify components to specification. • Select the right tools, workholding, and materials to prepare efficient, repeatable setups. • Operate CNC mills/lathes and manual mills/lathes; use drill presses, sanders, grinders, and support equipment to meet specifications. • Set up, adjust, and run basic machine tools and advanced variations to complete precision work. • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using sound shop math and instruments (micrometers, depth micrometers, ID/OD gauges, etc.). • Read and interpret blueprints to ensure conformance to specs and quality standards. • Monitor equipment health; verify machines are operating correctly and safely. • Collaborate with engineering and direct labor on part/tooling requirements and applications. • Recommend more cost-effective, efficient, or safer alternatives for parts and tooling. • Other duties as assigned. What You Bring • AAS in an Engineering discipline preferred (not required). • 1–3 years of machining experience required; formal schooling preferred. Job shop and CNC exposure is a plus. • High initiative, strong work ethic, and a team-first, hands-on approach (most of your time is on the shop floor). • Clear written and verbal communication skills; solid math proficiency. • Comfort with MS Office and related computer tools needed to perform the job. • Blueprint and sketch literacy; proven ability to hold tight tolerances. • Proficiency with precision metrology (micrometers, depth mics, ID/OD gauges, etc.). • Understanding of equipment and tooling technologies; general knowledge of speeds and feeds. • Experience troubleshooting operating issues and deciding corrective actions. • Operation monitoring—watching gauges, dials, and indicators for proper performance. • Knowledge of lock out/tag out requirements. • Ability to operate within an ERP system to order raw materials. Physical Demands • Close vision required for inspection and reading precision instruments. • Lift, pull, or push up to 50 lbs during equipment setup/teardown. • Stand for 8–10 hours per day. • Frequent bending and reaching during setups/teardowns and measurement verification. Your Toolbox & Tech • Proficiency areas: CNC tooling, manual machining skills, CAD/CAM software. • Equipment you’ll run: CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC) (Bridgeport), CNC Lathe (2–4 axis).
