DATE OPENED POSITION REPORTS TO November 1, 2021 CNC Machinist Manufacturing Engineer Status: Full-time Regular Department: Wire/Cable - Interconnect Engineering Location: Newark, NY Position Overview The CNC Programming Machinist is responsible for interpreting CAD to manufacture injection overmold tooling utilizing Mastercam and Haas mill. Process • CAM programming using Mastercam from imported CAD files. • Preparing aluminum and steel stock blanks for machining using manual shop equipment (e.g. band saw, drill press, vertical mill). • Mill setup; securing stock blanks, loading tool holders, setting tool heights, and related procedures. • Finishing operations; deburring, reaming, threading, and pin insertion. • Preventative maintenance of mill and related equipment (e.g. coolant levels, tool holder cleaning, tool wear). • Provide feedback to engineering related to component design to reduce labor and machining time for process improvement. • Ability to drive several projects to completion simultaneously with minimal supervision. • Report deficiencies or repair needs to supervisor. • Maintain a clean work area using 5S guidelines. Administration • Keep in line with company's accredited certifications and safety policy Position Qualifications Minimum Education: A.S. Engineering Science or related experience with CAM programming. Minimum Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in a similar position or a combination of experience and education. Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience Computer Skills • Basic Word for Windows skills as evidenced by the ability to produce basic business letters and simple tables and charts; as well as check spelling, set tabs, change page orientation, sort, save, open and organize electronic files. • Basic Excel skills as evidenced by the ability to use workbooks, create simple formulas, insert and delete data, create and edit charts, filter and sort lists, and format data. • Basic CAD skills in Solidworks as evidenced by the ability to interpret and edit existing parts and assemblies preferred but not required. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • High school diploma or GED required. • Experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus. • Knowledge of flexible packaging and basic tools preferred. • Familiarity with ISO standards and production scrap/defect issues is beneficial. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Basic math, reading, and writing skills, including the ability to read tape measures and calipers accurately. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to identify and resolve problems quickly. • Good communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude that supports teamwork. • Ability to follow written and visual instructions accurately. • Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive tasks such as bending, reaching, and twisting. • Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to sustain prolonged periods of visual inspection.
