Machinist Technicians are required to work around-the-clock shifts, including weekends and holidays, outdoors in all weather conditions. Schedules are bid and awarded according to seniority. Machinist Technicians are represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT). Salary increases will be coordinated according to the current IBT/United contract. Shift differentials of $.51 and $.58 cents per hour for working an afternoon or evening shift respectively are paid in addition to the hourly rate. New employees are required to join the union within ninety (90) days of employment. There is an initiation fee for joining the union and subsequent monthly union dues. • *Qualifications** • *What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):** + Must have a high school diploma/GED or education equivalent. + Customer focused + 2 years experience required in general machinist work and successful completion of a trade test + Must be at least 18 years of age + Valid US driver's license (revoked, suspended, or expired is not considered valid) + Must pass a 10-year background check + Must be willing to take a pre-placement physical, skills assessment test, hearing and vision tests, and drug screen + Candidate must clear a fingerprint-based criminal history check in order to acquire and retain credentials vital for the position + Position-specific clearances may include but are not limited to FAA, TSA, Port Authority, U.S. Customs, and U.S. Postal service clearances + Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship + Successful completion of interview and assessment required to meet job qualification + Reliable, punctual attendance is a crucial function of the position United Airlines is an equal opportunity employer.
