Senior CNC Mill Machinist

Position: Senior Machinist, Mill Department: CNC Mills Accountable to: Plant Manager Pay is competitive and based on experience. Job summary The primary function of the CNC Setup position is the programming, setup, operation, and running of production parts on CNC multi-axis machines by either writing CNC programs or using existing CNC programs and paperwork according to the production schedule to meet customer requirements. Responsibilities/daily tasks • Operate, and set up multi-axis CNC mill machines within specified tolerances following work instructions, and in accordance with machine programs and engineering drawings. • Programming using G-code, Master Cam, Cam Works, and /or Gibbs Cam. • Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunctions, adjusting machines as necessary. • Thoroughly inspect first piece run, and modify machine speeds, feeds, and tooling, to ensure precision and accuracy of manufactured parts. • Inspect finished product for accuracy and uniformity completing quality control documents as required to ensure product quality and uphold company reputation. • Deburr parts as they come off machine. • Assist in process development with engineers, quality technicians and supervisors. • Provide aid and training to other operators and may be required to move to other machines if needed. • Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required. • Maintain a clean, safe work area. • Perform routine preventative maintenance of machines when necessary. • Perform other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by supervisor. • Teamwork mentality to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications • 3 – 5 years 4-axis/5-axis set up and programming experience required. • Experience running a 5-axis Okuma is preferred. • Know how to read measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators and dial depth indicators for setup and measuring parts being machined. • Experience with Fanuc and Fadal controllers a plus. • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities. • Attention to detail. • Values precision and enforces quality standards. • Ability to understand G-code programs. • Ability to run multiple CNC Machines. • Solid math skills necessary, including measuring and keeping count records. • Ability to follow work instructions. • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach. • Willing to learn new and existing machinery and software. • Cooperative with co-workers; demonstrates attitude of helpfulness.
