About the position The Woodworking Machine Operator Supervisor position at UNICOR, located in the federal correctional facility in Forrest City, AR, is a critical role that involves training and supervising inmates in the manufacturing of plastic laminate and wood furniture. This position is essential for ensuring that the production of various furniture items, such as desks, bookcases, wardrobe lockers, lamps, credenzas, desk trays, and tables, is carried out efficiently and safely. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process, ensuring that quality standards are met while also maintaining the security of the institution. This dual responsibility of production and security is paramount, as the incumbent must prioritize the safety of both the inmates and the facility at all times. In addition to supervising the manufacturing process, the Woodworking Machine Operator Supervisor will be tasked with maintaining a safe working environment, adhering to all safety protocols, and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained and operated. The role requires a strong understanding of woodworking machinery and techniques, as well as the ability to effectively communicate and train inmates in these skills.
