Senior Manufacturing Engineer – CNC Machining

Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer - CNC Machining to lead process ownership, equipment procurement, and production optimization for complex CNC machining operations. This role supports tight-tolerance component manufacturing across mills, lathes, and grinding operations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. The engineer will be accountable for improving efficiency, managing capital equipment launches, and resolving downtime across multidisciplinary systems. Key Responsibilities: • Serve as process owner for an assigned department-machinery, gaging, quality, documentation, and tooling. • Lead new product launch teams: develop manufacturing plans including equipment, labor content, and quality processes. • Direct capacity planning, tooling/gaging procurement, and capital forecasting. • Manage full lifecycle of new equipment: vendor evaluation, quoting, install planning, runoff, and handoff to production. • Troubleshoot and resolve downtime issues related to mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and coolant systems. • Lead or support continuous improvement, cost reduction, and lean manufacturing initiatives. • Collaborate with tooling suppliers to resolve production and quality issues. • Coach operators and team leads on process changes and new equipment. • Provide technical input to product design teams on manufacturability, GD&T, and cost drivers. • Develop and maintain all process documentation: FMEAs, Control Plans, Work Instructions, Tool Sheets, etc. • Support production across all shifts including occasional weekend coverage. • Drive culture of safety, 5S, and operational excellence. Preferred SkillsKnowledge: • Strong background in CNC Machining and Grinding operations. • Working knowledge of: • GD&T and metrology • Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 • Tooling optimization and testing • Changeover reduction strategies • PLC programming (ladder logic) • Proficiency in engineering documentation and project management. • Effective problem-solving and analytical thinking using 8D, Six Sigma, etc. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Industrial Systems Engineering. • 5-10 years of manufacturing engineering experience, ideally in CNC machining environments. • Demonstrated success launching and supporting capital equipment projects. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across engineering, production, and maintenance teams.
