GREAT BEND INDUSTRIES Great Bend, Kansas Assembly II & I JOB TYPE: CBU CLASSIFICATON: Labor Grades 2 and 3 JOB SUMMARY: Performs routine and unique assembly, paint, and test operations as assigned, utilizing blueprints, drawings, specifications, jigs, fixtures, hand tools, and tooling as required. Seals parts. Loads and unloads parts and products from assembly tables, test stands, paint/dry racks, pallets, and shipping crates. Makes routine in-process and final quality checks, utilizing precision measuring instruments to ensure that parts and/or products being produced and shipped are accurate to applicable specifications. Maintains continuous quality check on all parts being assembled, painted, tested and prepared for shipment. Performs routine preventive maintenance on machinery and equipment used. Maintains a clean and organized work area. Responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment, also handling, labeling, disposing, and preparing hazardous waste for shipment into the Hazardous Waste containers using the proper procedures, which were taught in the Hazardous Waste training program. At all times, works in a safe manner. Responsible for quality and efficient output to meet customer service and profit objectives ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to): • Working at the direction of the Production Supervisor, assemble machined and purchased parts to blue print specifications to produce customized products to meet customer needs. • Record in legible hand writing, computer input or other specified method, in a timely manner, accurate assembly/material usage information to ensure the integrity and record accuracy of physical inventory and labor tracking. • Conduct quality checks required to assure integrity of finished product. • Using precision measuring instruments, ensure that parts/products meet all design specifications. • Must own all the tools on the required tool list or have something on open order or credit until the required tool list is fulfilled. • Perform routine preventive maintenance on machinery and other equipment utilized. • Work in other departments and job classifications as assigned. • Train others as assigned. Must be able to work well with others. • Keep machine and immediate area clean, neat and organized. • Responsible for maintaining and cleaning equipment, also handling, labeling, disposing, and preparing hazardous waste for shipment into the Hazardous Waste containers using the proper procedures, which were taught in the Hazardous Waste training program. • Facilitate the work of Great Bend industries by accomplishing assigned responsibilities in a timely, effective and efficient manner. • Work well with others to accomplish company objectives. • Work in a safe manner, supporting, by example, the Company’s safety and hazardous waste policies. Job Details Job Location KS - Great Bend, KS Position Type Full Time Salary Range $13.00 - $15.00 Hourly Job Category Distribution - Shipping Description Summary: This description includes but is not limited to various manual and clerical duties in the picking and movement of raw materials, finished goods, components, and equipment. This individual will receive job packets. Raw materials will be scanned, and data inputted through an iPad and keyboard to electronically transfer them into the assigned job. They will also physically move the raw material to the lines with various powered and manual moving equipment. They will keep the job packets organized until the jobs have been completed in production. Then the individual will count, consolidate and palatize the returning raw material items. Communicate with supervisor when complete. The labeled returning items will be electronically and physically put back into inventory within two days of completing production. The completed job packets will be returned to the supervisor after the used raw materials have been accurately charged to the job. Essential Duties: • Drive safely and be aware of pedestrians and surroundings • Schedule and coordinate job packets and orders with supervisors • Material movement requires utilizing various types of powered and manual moving equipment (requires a current Forklift and High Lift licenses issued by Fuller) • Work efficiently to avoid driving without product. Example, take advantage of opportunities to move finished goods out of the area when making a trip to pick up raw materials • Audit, cycle count, and maintain support documents • Record orders and process returns utilizing current tools and methods • Accurately enter data into computerized equipment • Complete inventory tags • Visually inspect all items and communicate findings as directed by area supervision • Communicate with supervisor and address inquiries with others as they occur • Unload and load trucks occasionally • Transfer completed palletized products to the shipping/finished good warehouse • When caught up, will seek additional work from the supervisor • Being present at work and adhering to assigned work schedule including overtime • Problem solve and prioritize work Qualifications Qualifications: Forklift experience preferred. On-the-job training is provided. Language Skills: Must be able to read, write and speak English, bilingual a plus. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must be able to read, write and speak English, work with simple arithmetic, and understand ordinary verbal and written instructions. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; some high school education required. Physical Demands: Essential functions can require: • Sustained or repetitive manual effort in handling, lifting or carrying materials weight up to 50 lbs approximately 75% of the workday. Occasional lifting of bagged materials up to 100 lbs and handling drums up to 500 lbs. • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking when operating materials handling equipment or picking orders. • Standing or sitting for extended periods of time • Reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching • Vision: color; close; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
