The Fabricator / Machine Operator will set up and operate fabrication machinery including drill presses, punch presses, and grinders to drill, ream, countersink, tap, punch, notch, trim and remove burrs on metal work pieces. Will start machine and observe operations to detect misalignment or malfunction. The Fabricator / Machine Operator will inspect work pieces and adjust machine as needed to correct errors, clean, and lubricate machines. Job Requirements: Must be able to read blueprints, job orders, and tooling instructions. Must have strong problem solving and math skills. Must be able to lift up to 100lbs occasionally and up to 50lbs frequently. Previous fabrication and/or machine operation experience is a huge plus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 1. Thinks safety and exercises safe work habits in daily endeavors. 2. Reads blueprint or job order for product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances, and tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and determines sequence of operations. 3. Selects, positions, and secures drill bit or punch in toolholder (chuck, collet or punch holder). 4. Positions and secures work piece in holding device, machine table, chuck, centers, or fixtures. 5. Adjusts ram stroke to specified length. Moves controls to position tool and work piece in relation to each other, and to set specified feeds, speeds, and depth of cut. 6. Positions work piece against fixtures or stops on machine bed or on die. 7. Turns valve handle to direct flow of coolant or cutting oil against tool and work piece. 8. Starts machine and observes operation to detect misalignment or malfunction. Observes operation of machine and verifies conformance of machined work piece to specifications. 9. Inspects work pieces for conformance to specifications and adjusts machine to correct errors. 10. Operates bench grinder to sharpen tools and remove metal burrs. 11. Cleans and lubricates machines. 12. Performs the duties of a Primary Metal Cutting Operator. 13. Other duties as assigned.
