Tool & Die Maker/CNC Machinist

Tool & Die Maker / CNC Machinist – 2nd Shift Will train on 1st shift for approx 6 months then will go to 2nd shift. JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY Supports the Viega Machine Shop’s mission of producing precision tooling that supports our manufacturing operations. This position will set-up and operate a variety of computer-controlled and mechanically-controlled machine tools to produce precision metal parts, instruments and tools of the highest quality standards. This position will regularly interact and problem solve with cross-functional team members across Viega. JOB DESCRIPTION DETAILS • Translate the information from blueprints, sketches, specifications and CAD/CAM files to the production of precision tools & dies. • Compute and verify dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of workpieces. • Ability to set up, operate, and conversationally program conventional, manual, and computer-numeric controlled (CNC) machines and equipment. • File, grind and adjust parts so that they fit together properly. • Quality check completed tools and dies to ensure that they meet specifications. • Smooth and polish the surfaces of tools and dies. • Works cooperatively with a wide variety of Viega departments and outside vendors. • Preparing raw materials and tools prior to machining, cutting or deburring. Other • Attends meetings as required and/or assigned. • Performs other duties as required and/or assigned REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Proficient in programming and operation of CNC equipment, including 5-axis machining. • Ability to fixture and design methods of manufacturing complex parts • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and CAD/CAM drawings • Ability to multitask and prioritize to manage multiple projects/assignments. • Ability to work independently and make competent decisions. • Strong communication skills to facilitate understanding and problem-solving with cross-functional teams and colleagues. • Attention to detail. Education, Certification/License & Work Experience • High-School Diploma or Equivalent • Minimum 3 years of experience.
