Assistant to Seafood Packing Operations

Seafood Packing Assistant We are seeking a skilled professional to assist in the operation, maintenance and tending of our cannery's packing and filler machines for seafood production. The ideal candidate will have 3 months of verifiable work experience with seafood packing and using packing and filler machines. They must be able to work weekends, holidays and extended shifts as required, including a 7-day work week. Key responsibilities include: • Assisting in the operation of packing and filler machines for various types of seafood. • Adjusting machine components, tension and pressure according to fish size. • Performing post-season operating equipment clean-up. Additional requirements include a pre-employment criminal background check, paid for by the employer. Optional benefits include shared housing, utilities and meals during shift, as well as payroll deduction for meals. The basic wage rate is $19.47 per hour, with additional pay available for AK residents, experienced workers and those providing exceptional service. Si necesita asistencia adicional en espanol, comuniquese con nosotros Start a Career that Makes an Impact Responsibilities • Employee is required to repeatedly lift and handle battery parts, envelope materials, elements and batteries weighing from grams to 50 pounds. • Continuous and repetitive loading of plates into feed magazines and some hand stacking of positive and negative plates. • Perform first piece set-up, weld breaks, and weld analysis. • Will process 1000-2400 batteries per 10-hour shift. • Work with a multiple-person team in an area containing electrical powered machinery, torches, lead melting pots, conveyors, computers, and ventilation equipment. • Must learn and follow quality control specifications, maintain accurate and timely SPC charts, 002 forms, and other material control documents. • Will be exposed to lead (dust, fumes, and molten form), hot glue, and other hazards. • Must be able to understand and communicate in basic English to receive training, instructions and perform team responsibilities. • Recognize & Record scrap during shift when required. • Fill out JD Edwards reconciliation form, end of shift. • Maintain a clean and orderly work area in accordance with 5s requirements. • Comply with safety and health regulations for the protection of self and fellow workers. • Follow Lean Manufacturing Procedures. • Comply with current Quality Systems requirements. • Perform other duties as assigned by the Management Team. • Follow safety policies to include use of PPE. Qualifications Physical Requirements: • Frequent lifting from grams to 50 pounds • Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, stooping and pulling. • Continuous Standing and Walking for 10-hour shift. • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, respirator, safety glasses, and metatarsal guard shoes, etc., as required in established policy. • May sometimes be exposed to extreme environmental conditions (hot, cold, humid). • Must work from 10 inches to 60 inches above the floor and reach 24 inches side to side. Equipment Used • Small hand tools, numerous types of powered equipment and control panels, hoists, torches, platen carts, safety equipment. • Personal Protective Equipment as required.
