CNC Machinist Job Description Department: Production Machine Shop Job Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Hourly Reports To: Manager- Machine Shop Location: Ponca City, OK Amount of Travel Required: N/A Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (5:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.) Positions Supervised: N/A POSITION SUMMARY: The Senior CNC Machinist performs detailed machine setups, G & M Code (CNC) editing, machine process improvement and troubleshooting, and produces machined parts to print. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "may.") • Setup/teardown of machine tools quickly, accurately, and efficiently – load and/or unload jaws, fixtures and tooling as needed. • Work with CAM programming department to develop and improve CNC programs. • Aid in the design and fabrication of fixturing for parts of varying complexity • Advise supervisor and programming team of machine print and production issues to increase production. • Operate specific machine tools to produce close tolerance machined parts per engineering routing instructions. • Load and unload parts from machine. • Keep immediate area clean and orderly • Use measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, depth gauges etc. • Maintain quality standards through understanding of the Quality System. • Other duties as directed by supervisor POSITION REQUIREMENTS • Successfully passes background check, pre-employment drug screening, an any pre-employment aptitude and/or competency assessment(s). • In-person, predictable attendance EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL • High School Diploma or GED equivalent certificate. • Post-secondary CNC education preferred. • Experience in a manufacturing environment not required, but highly desirable. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIES • Excellent speaking, writing and listening skills. • High school diploma or GED; post-secondary CNC education preferred. • Four years of CNC machine operation. • High level of manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination. • Ability to read blueprints. • Ability to edit programs. • Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills. • Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity. • Capable of working in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude. • Ability to read a measuring tape.
