Service Technician/Field Machinist - Garden City

Service Technician/Field Machinist We are actively seeking a skilled, dedicated, and motivated diesel technician with a special skillset in line boring and machining. EOE. This position must be able to efficiently troubleshoot, diagnose and repair various systems of equipment to keep producers up and running to their full potential. The ideal candidate will have basic line boring and machining skills, or a desire to acquire these skills with provided training. A great candidate is an individual who likes to problem-solve, is a continuous learner with a dedicated work ethic and can present themselves in a professional, courteous and positive manner. COMPENSATION: • This is a full-time position with 45+ hours/week. • Base hourly wage ranges between $22-40+ per hour, DOE. • Plus eligible for overtime and commission. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Analyze, troubleshoot and perform electrical and mechanical repairs on agricultural equipment. • Perform diagnosis and plan effective and efficient repairs of machinery. • Using basic math skills, can find a center of a diameter, can read measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and depth gauges. • Apply basic machining fundamentals. • Effectively cut and weld metals. • Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with work assignments. • Follow production schedules and requirements for completion of assignments. • Participate in Service Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge. • Maintain vehicles, tools and equipment in good condition and working order. • Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a neat and orderly fashion. • Comply with all safety rules and regulations. Follow safety precautions while operating vehicles, machinery and equipment. • Provide professional and courteous service and present a positive and professional image of the company. • Perform other service tasks as directed by the Service Manager or Service Department Foreman. QUALIFICATONS: • Three to five years’ experience in maintenance and repair of agricultural equipment. • John Deere Tech graduate, John Deere Technician experience or Certificate of completion from a mechanical or industrial arts training, vocational school, or equivalent experience preferred. • Experience in welding and fabrication required. • Experience and/or the desire to learn and execute line boring and machining duties as they apply to a scope of work. • Knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems. • Experience in the use of diagnostic equipment. • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes. • Computer skills. • Good written and oral communication skills. • Set of tools to perform equipment repairs and maintenance. Line boring equipment and tools will be provided. • Valid drivers license and clean driving record is required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Extended periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching overhead, regularly lifting 75 lbs without assistance, grasping with both hands, pushing and pulling, working around moving machinery, driving a vehicle, extensive hours on a computer, hearing normal tones, and seeing. May be exposed to extreme weather conditions from extreme heat to winter blizzard conditions.
