Machinist reports primarily to the Machine Shop Supervisor, and indirectly to the Production Supervisor. Machinist may be assigned to any of the following job functions: WHAT YOU’LL DO: • Operates and maintains lathe and milling machines. • Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production. • Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping. • Selects appropriate machine and setting for a given task. • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment. • Monitors production, adjusting feed and other settings as necessary. • Maintains inventory of completed products. • Checks output for quality assurance and documents or discards defects. • Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs. • Maintains a safe and clean workstation. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed. WHAT YOU’LL NEED: • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED): Preferred • Experience: Drill press, lathe, mill, band saw: Preferred; additional onsite training! • Computer Skills: None specifically required. • Certifications & Licenses: None specifically required. • Other Requirements: Knowledge of piping materials (visual and descriptions); must be able to be on feet for full shift; lift up to 50 pounds; pushing/pulling objects up to 100 pounds; must be able to wear a respirator.
